Could very well be. But the first oil change at the dealer is free around here.

For those of you with experience here, what do you think the long term reliability is of these jeeps? My first car was a Chrysler (Lebaron GTS) and it was the worst car I have had. After a series of Nissans, I'm back to Chrysler but am just leasing the Trailhawk. I'd consider buying it out of the lease when it's done but don't want to get stuck with problems. Thoughts on reliability of these jeeps?

Re: '13 Trailhawk production numbers

I hate dealing with oils, so I let the dealer do it.

I do everything else myself.

The last Chrysler product I had was a company car in 1987. I was a 'K' car. It was an uncomfortable mechanical disaster on wheels, so I had the same fears as you did in 2011. Things have changed. Chrysler has too (several times). Knock on genuine simulated wood, I have had 42,000 trouble free miles so far and am starting to thinking about moving up to a MY15.
See how it goes. I expect you will be buying it. Enjoy.

Re: '13 Trailhawk production numbers

I grew up in K-Car derivatives. It's all my parents owned.

Yuck. I even had one myself.

What's that noise?

Oh the screws holding in the trim pieces loosened up again... it happened every few months.

What's that OTHER noise?

The entire dashboard sounding like it's going to fall off.

I do not miss those days. (And back then I used to think stuff like that was normal until my sister bought her first car... a Mitsubishi Mirage...)

We'll see about buying it out of the lease. It's been very good so far but had a lot of blue smoke at AM startups until 3k miles. Now it occasionally has thick white/gray smoke at startup. There's another thread that I was reading on this. Apparently very common w the hemis. I think it has something to do w the oil pan position

We see that all day and night at work.

I don't get it but you're not the only one.

Since you build these, is it that the oil pan is oddly placed? From what I've read this mostly happens after parking on inclines. Is there a TSB going to be released?

What's everyone's thoughts on starting up a registry so we can track how many are actually out here? Or at least forum members?

Owner:
Color:
Area purchased:
Picture:

Something along those lines?

Great idea. We should get VIN #s and engine info so we have a complete database. There are still some new ones around so we can capture those and maybe compile a VIN range

Sounds good to me! I got the idea from VWvortex on the R32 forum.
