I agree with you there, I only put 10k miles on my jeep before I dumped those forteras. Nothing like spending 50k on a jeep to ride around on garbage tires. At least they finally got rid of them for the 2016 GCs, they were probably inundated with complaints.

Yup, considering the same thing here. I only have 22k miles and I'm ready to get rid of them. One tire is out of balance spec and they hardly made it through last winter's snow when they were brand new. Not looking foward to how they'll fare at 50%

The first thing I always do is replace tires when I buy a vehicle, and then sell them to offset the cost of the new ones.

you can get the uconnect updates for free on uconnect owners site. you need a flash drive to install them, a dealer quote I had was $45 for a software update, not sure if that applies to one or multiple updates. I too consider uconnect updates optional - PCM, transmission and this new "anti-hacking" patch would be more mandatory. good luck

Re: $135 for 7 software module updates?

Keep in mind that while the TSB is free, the labor to install it is not. There's nothing unusual about that across many industries. So for those things that require a service technician to install, once out of warranty, they can choose to charge normal labor for the work. There is a time component associated with each TSB. Some dealer service departments will either not charge or reduce the charge if you're having other work done simultaneously. $135 is probably something like 2 hours of standard labor charge.

To-date, my dealer has not charged me for this kind of work because I do have things done while I'm in for other things. I also have the MaxCare service contract and they have not charged a separate deductible for TSB work, either, when I'm getting something else attended to.

Considering they were the stock tires on my 07 I doubt it. Probably a deal with a different supplier.

Thank the lucky stars you guys didn't get goodyear wrangler sr-a. Now those tires are horrendous.

Electric cars are the future and it isn't a matter of if, but when ... and the when all depends on battery technology to make the batteries more economical, charge fast, and as small and light as possible.

Self-driving cars will be interesting. While I like driving most of the time, it sure would be nice to be chauffeured around too in a self-driving car - less stress in heavy crazy traffic, etc.
There is a guy I do business with that has a Tesla. He took me on a drive when the new self driving software came out. I have to say, it was pretty cool to just sit there and not have to do a thing.

yeah but a marginal tire on a smaller size rim sometimes you can get by with, on a 20 inch the shaking is going to be more magnified and evident. They had a notable problem with shaking that wasn't just isolated to a few people. Forteras are a significantly cheaper tire than the Pirellis and Bridgestone's that are replacing them. when you buy tires by the millions and train cars full you watch every penny that they are costing you. They didn't move away from a cheapo tire to significantly more expensive tires just for the hell of it. the warranty work and the reputation damage they get with their flag ship vehicle shaking down the road on test drives probably hit the tipping point, supply contract was up they thought it best to move up in quality. I'm sure goodyear would have cut them a better cheaper volume contract on el cheapo fortera then perrilli or bridgestone did, jeep just made the right choice to improve quality in that area. some people are ok with the forteras but with summits topping 62k they need to watch the areas they skimp in.

Knock wood, I haven't had any shimmy/shake issues with the 20" Forteras. Not sure how they stack up as mud/snow tires, but I've had no issues with dry pavement. Once in heavy rain on the highway, got hydroplaning when hit big standing water.
