'14 Carpet Protector/Dead Pedal Installation: (first post)

I don't know why the US auto industry does not think it important to have a dead pedal/rest in cars or trucks here...

PepBoys special, found a pedal set in the "Diesel" truck section and used the gas pedal (inverted) to mount for a dead pedal. There's some sort of structural foam or insulation behind the carpet there so I used (4) 1.25" screws to mount it. Seems solid, doesn't move. I mostly wanted something there to rest my foot against vs brace point for aggressive driving.

Works well.

That foam *is* your "dead pedal".

Yeah, but how was a person to figure that out when it isn't labeled, "Place Left Foot Here", nor does it have a picture of a foot?

Nice find! That looks really nice, good job. Now you need to change your gas, break, and parking break pedals. The on you found for the dead pedal is a pretty close match to the mopar gas/break premium pedals.

Yep, as mentioned Dead Pedal is already there. That looks like simple Carpet Protection to me, which may not be a bad idea.

Please don't label it.
Hate when someone is trying to tell me what to do.

Re: '14 Dead Pedal Installation: (first post)

If anyone was wondering, the person that installs the dead pedal also installs the front carpet and does some other stuff with wires. Not really sure.

Why couldn't Chrysler at least install some sort of rubber foot pad over that dead pedal area so the carpet wouldn't get ruined from dirt & wear...like just about every other car manufacturer?

Re: '14 Dead Pedal Installation: (first post)

I did cut some zebra wood, that was in the shed, to put over the carpet. I figured it would protect the carpet and match the trim. I haven't gotten around to finishing it yet. A urethane with some grit in it should do the trick.

Looks nice. Probably increased the resale value too.

Not sure. They do it in some of their other vehicles.
