The granite crystal is a very heavy metalflake color and it's appearance can shift considerably under different lighting conditions. In direct sunlight the metalflake is very pronounced. Not so much in shade. When mine's in the garage and I look down the side of the car the metalflake gives more of a non-glossy, satin appearance.
Yes, it reflects light but not multi-color like a prism. If that's the issue you've experienced on your repair then the shop possibly used the wrong metalflake in the paint mix.
Metalflake in some colors can be very difficult to match to the original finish. The higher the metalflake content, the more likely that is to occur. It's also not unusual to see differences in the original factory paint... especially silvers and grays.
Pearlescent colors are also difficult to match to the original finish for much the same reason.
