14' Hemi vs V6 ride quality

Hello all. I am new to the forum but have been following it for a few months now.

In March I purchased a 14 LTD 6 cyl, 20's, sunroof. I was and am very impressed with this Jeep. So much so that I went got another - only differences are - Hemi and tow package.

I felt the 6 was great for regular driving but would need the Hemi for towing.

The Hemi has a few concerns that I have yet to have taken care of but first I'd like to get everyones opinion about the ride quality between the two.

I find the 6 cylinder has a much more confident ride, smoother, less bouncy. I am not nearly as impressed but the handling as I am with the pentastar engine.

Has anyone been able to drive both and notice any type of difference? (other than the obvious HP difference) I know the Hemi is heavier.

Other concerns with Hemi:

1) wheel vibration at 60mph. I had the tires balanced but there is still a slight vibration
2) pulls to right only on acceleration
3)blue smoke at start up.

I've been trying to search prior to posting.

Long story but needed a tow hitch and hemi, selling pick up. Someone else is taking the 6 cylinder GC.

Thank you!

Re: 14' Hemi vs V6 ride quality

Do you have QuadraLift on your Hemi '14? That will give a different ride from a '14 without it; you'll think it's soft and bouncy at first because you're comparing it to every other car you've driven without air suspension. You get used to it soon, however, and then you'll like it better than those other suspensions. (At least I did.) Can't speak to the wheel vibration; pulling to the right; or blue smoke at startup - I've never experienced any of that with my '14 Hemi.

I'd be selfish and keep them both for myself.

Re: 14' Hemi vs V6 ride quality

Also the Hemi is about 200 lb heavier than the V6, all on the nose. To compensate the Hemi should have different spring rates in the front which would change the "feel".

Finally is the one vibrating at 60 a 4X4 ? If so I recall seeing something about out-of-balance halfshafts. Unless the tires are balanced on the car it would not show up.

Re: 14' Hemi vs V6 ride quality

They are both 4x4 Limiteds.

I just don't feel like going back to the dealer and them telling me its normal. The wheels were way out of balance.

Minor issues. Other than these they're great. No problems with radios at all.

So I drove the overland in v6 and v8 at the dealership. The v6 felt like it was struggling with how heavy the truck is. I went with v8 and loving it

Was the ECO mode on when you tried this? My guess is yes.

Yes the Eco was on but who knows what the mileage is on v6 when u have it in sport all the time. I just thought driving the v8 felt really smooth and u couldn't hear the engine noise as much as the v6

Re: 14' Hemi vs V6 ride quality

Careful jeepoverlander, the V6 tribe is going to descend upon you like a pack of wild dogs with talk like that.

(I also test drove both engines and thought the V8 was superior performance-wise.)

Re: 14' Hemi vs V6 ride quality

I haven't driven a V6 14 model, but I drove a V6 and V8 13 model. The ride was very similar for the short run on the freeway and the only difference I noticed other than the power between the 2 engines was the cabin noise. The Hemi when you step on it and while idle is very noticeable and you know it's running while the V6 was more mellow and the sound proofing tuned it out very nicely.
