That seems a little... harsh, considering she hasn't yet been charged with anything. Also, please drop the teenage sentiment and grow up, people make mistakes, including you.

This 68 yr old woman may have been "impaired" (initial report), drives through a house and kills / severly injures people, and you feel she should be able to operate a motor vehicle again? Of course she deserves a fair trial, but if she's found guilty, then yes...she should have her license revoked permanently.

Are you referring to me personally? I fail to see any "teenage sediment" in my original post. And as for "mistakes" that I've personally made...I'm pretty sure I haven't killed anyone while behind the wheel or driven through a house.

Re: '14 Plows through house

According to the report, in addition to police thinking she was impaired as mentioned by GCLimted, she also did all this with her 3-yr old grandson on her lap.

Re: '14 Plows through house

Lol, I'm going to the lake to fish. Ill see if I can spot that house and take a pic.

Also, another reason why old people shouldn't be driving, or at least be required to take a yearly driving test.

Or she shouldn't have left the kitchen.

I agree. Especially old women... almost got hit by old ladies in 3 different locations, timing, and ladies!

But, again there are some old men who can't drive too. I just feel like they sure could easily cause the accidents if other people didn't pay attention to avoid the accident like i did. Thats scary.

I sure feel bad for 68 yrs old lady... her live won't be same at all. Poor her family too.

I agree about older people taking a new driving test, can't tell you how many times I'm on the hwy, pkwy and there's a car doing 30mph and it's always a person well on in years. but this woman was only 68 years young.

I see it everyday. This is right after we ''merged'' on the highway at 27mph with the flow of traffic doing emergency invasive maneuvers to get around us as they are going 70mph. I just turn my emergency flashers on when merging behind them now and I can't gain proper merge speed.

Why all the old people hating? They are not the most likely to crash their car.

Quit bringing up the facts/stats. Next your going to say that that more CG are built correctly than not.

Uh, I'm not sure what your looking at, but the 75+ group is over-represented in fatal accidents compared to all the other age groups except for younger ones based on your chart. The 75+ group makes up 6.5% of the driving population, but they account for 7.9% of fatalities. The younger groups you would expect it from due to inexperience, but the elderly are there because of a decrease in their physical abilities. I'm sure if you look at people 80+ it's far worse.

Re: '14 Plows through house

This thread started with the story of a 68 year old woman, and the old folks bashing started. I agree drivers in their upper 70's and 80's should be retested. I'm 64, and willing to take a test anytime. Kids in their teen's and twenty's, texting and partying are the real menace. I'd rather be slowed down by an elderly driver than broadsided by some dumbass kid that thinks he, or she, can fly down the road, "multitasking", looking at their keyboard. And back to the original post, we really don't know what happened. I posted a link to the carwash stories, and no one really knows what the actual cause to those "accidents" was yet either.
