You use premium in a vehicle not designed to run on premium?

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

what's wrong with that? The vehicle was designed use a lower grade gasoline. Nothing wrong will happen if better gas is used.

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

I am also not getting great MPG and I was surprised. I am at 400 miles and still the MPG is that of the 8 cyl. My 14 Overland is worse mileage than my 11 Oveland. This is with Eco on. I thought the 8 gears was supposed to help but I am not seeing it. A bit disappointing

Maybe we should compare at 2000+ miles on 14's to get a good break-in and lower engine loses due to friction?

After the break in at 2000-3000 miles is anyone going to switch to synthetic oil at the first oil change to see how that would benefit the vehicle and it's low friction possibilities within the engine Longterm not to mention the possible better gas mileage?

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

The higher the octane, the slower it burns. If you burn premium in an engine designed for regular, it may not advance the spark enough for optimum performance. I would be less concerned with a Pentastar than a Hemi.

I did a rough calc because I didn't leave on a full tank and I drove around town again before I filled back up. I got within those numbers.

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

After two fill ups, I have been getting 17.2 and 17.1 MPG per EVIC and 17.1 MPG per my own calculation on both. This is 90% city driving in sports mode.

However, we did fill up last time with E85 ($0.80 cheaper at the gas station beside our house) and the MPG from the EVIC has dropped to about 16.5 MPG since filling up last week. I knew it would drop some due to the E85.

There's an E85 filling station within throwing distance of my house. I'm not sure if it'll be cost effective to use it. Sounds like a job for excel...

I'm assuming this is the 6. If not, I'm buying a Hemi tomorrow.
