Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

Quick update to my original post - I was hovering btwn 12.3 and 12.8 (mostly city driving) in my 5.7L using 87 and driving mostly in S or D as I broke in vehicle. Now that I'm at 600 miles, I tried 89 and am driving in ECO mostly. Am currently at 16 MPG after 4 days. Not bad. Hard to say what I can attribute to ECO or 89 or some degree of break in on the engine, but it's getting better. Will keep folks posted.

Still have yet to drive distance with it.

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

Just got back from a trip ... Dover De. to four locations on Long Island.
Trip included highway, city, and even some Long Island Expressway rush hour.

Total mileage on car ... 1041 ... Avg mileage ... 21.8
Total trip mileage ... 648 ... Avg mileage ... 22.3

Above based on EVIC

Warning - if you visit friends in the Hamptons gas up before you go. I was very low when I got there this morning. $4.59/gal for 89. The pump stopped at $95 because that's all you can charge at the pump.

Thanks for the update. Those are some very good numbers for the V8 considering most of the other posted numbers. Those are the best numbers I have seen anywhere actually. What's your trick? Or is everyone else just stomping on it from stop light to stop light. And with only 1041 miles on your vehicle, it should still improve.

Up until the day I retired I most likely would have been getting 10 miles to the gallon, because I was always in a hurry. Now I just stomp on it when I want to have some fun or pass. Most of the trip I stayed in the lanes that were doing 70 - 75.

On the NJ turnpike the speed limit is 65 and the middle lane averaged just over 70. On the eastern end of the Long Island Expressway the speed limit is 55. The slow, right lane, averages 75.

So you are getting 16 now with your V8 and 89 octane in city driving. Are you heavy on the acceleration or more conservative?

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

For those curious about E85 MPG, I'm still hovering around 15.5 MPG after 1400 miles with E85 on the V6 engine. This is with a lot of short trips and downtown driving. I'll be taking a 600 mile road trip at the end of the month, so that will be the first test of highway conditions. More than likely, I"ll have to fill up with regular gas in WV so I'll post both sets of numbers after the trip.

500 miles of mixed driving since I picked it up last Mon. afternoon. Hemi, using 89 octane. Eco setting turned off at each start. Mileage is improving every day. Currently at 17.4 mpg. Runs great.

That is very promising. I see V6 owners posting worse milage.
