Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

A trip across michigan returned 23 exactly on the EVIC, drove about 50 to 60 miles around town wih a few remote starts, got back last night and shut if off at 21.4 mpg, overall not too impressed, have yet to see 24 mpg. Have 1200 miles on it at this point, city mileage at around 17-18 so that is ok. Just hope that warmer weather brings better mileage.

5.7 Hemi - 24.0 on the drive home from the dealer in rush hour traffic. 17.8 first tank which was mostly city and feeling the thing out. Right now I'm averaging 19.6 with suburban driving in DFW at just under 1000 miles. I'm 26 and coming from a 400+ HP Pontiac G8 GT if that paints a picture of my driving style at all. So far the Jeep gets better mileage than the G8 did and I'm pretty pleased with that.

All these good reports of the hemi gas mileage have me thinking I might be able to get what I currently get with my 3.7 V6 Mazda cx-9 which is 16 MPG in mixed driving.

How is everyone getting this good of gas mileage?? I have the Hemi, and granted mostly city-type driving, but I'm usually around 11-12 mpg.

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

I've my had '14 Overland V6 for 5 days and am averaging 15.5 mpg with 98% city driving. And a lot of idling in the driveway while messing around with it .

I am starting to think I may get the same as my V6 Explorer and looking to purchase tonight. I guess it is going to be like when the waiter comes over and says "What would you like sir?" That's when I 'll decide V8.....or V6.

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

Update from my original post. Currently at 16 MPG (5.7L, mostly city driving, in DC area, so near sea level, nearly 1000 miles). When driving mostly hwy, I'm pushing 22-23, but I've yet to drive on a long road trip. Mileage continues to improve with break in, it appears. Additionally, I've switched to 89 octane, and that generated an instant boost of nearly 3 mpg. Hard to say if the improvements are related to only fuel, breaking in of engine, or (most likely) both. But, this I'm much happier with 16mpg on EVIC over the original 12.3-12.8 I was getting.

As side note, I'm driving more and more in ECO and the transmission has nicely adapted. I still break out the sport mode when passing or just wanting to have some fun, but ECO is likely going to be my standard mode.

Very encouraging. I am trying to avoid the coin toss for the V8 or V6 at this point. Wish I could get some real life acceleration times. I am one to get on it pretty good and would hate to shell out for the V8 & MPG's to discover almost identical acceleration numbers.

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

Those are unreal v8 mpgs around DC! If others get similar mpgs I might be tempted to forego the CRD.
