Side note, what PSI are you running your tires at? Dealer had mine at 38PSI, but took down to 33 PSI, which is what the door panel stated as correct PSI for my 18"s.
Holy crap. Dealer put mine at 40! Guess I should've read the door! Thanks for the tip!

That's not a bad drop though for an $.80 difference. If regular gas spikes and E85 doesn't go up too much, I'll be doing that too. I had converted one of my Saabs when gas went way up, but the difference in mileage was close enough to not bother to keep looking out for E85 pumps. But a guy who did a top-end job on his converted Saab said it was so clean in there you could eat off it.

V6 with Shell gas (87), first fill I have just over 300 miles on the Jeep and averaging 16.5 in 70% city, 30% highway driving. I reset the TRIP B on a 90% highway trip from work to home (23 miles on ECO mode) and the computer said 26.5. So theoretically, it should be possible to get 22-24mpg highway down the road I hope...

We have about 125 miles on a tank of e85 and about a 50 50 split between highway and city we are at 15 mpg even. The same driving on regular returned about 19 so I am going to have to seriously weigh the costs of it...

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

Looks like some generalities are possible:
1) 4WD costs about 1 MPG over 2WD
2) The 8-speed is worth about 1.5 MPG over earlier drivetrains
3) Highway milage peaks between 55 and 65 mph & takes about a 1-2%/mph hit over that. (Barn Door effect, cdA 11.5 - '14, 11.6 - '12, may be rounding error)
4) Hemi likes 89 PON
5) E85 must cost at least 25% less than 87 to be economical
6) Towing capacity increased significantly for V6 (5,000 lbs to 6,200 lbs)
7) No US "real world" info on diesel yet

I would love to put 6200 pounds behind ours... I towed my dad's 17' boat with a weight around 3000 fully loaded with just 2 adults in the vehicle, it pulled it pretty good in 6th gear going 60 and if I waned to I could force it no 7th but could barely keep my speed, 8th was a complete no go. I know the v6 doesn't have a whole lot of torque but I was hoping it would do a little better than that... At 6k 4th or 5th gear would probably be necessary. I was getting between 13 and 14mpg according to the evic also. That was with barely 500 miles on it.

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

Just picked up my 2014 Overland and trip computer showed 22.5 mpg on first, mostly highway, 250 mile trip home from dealer. I couldn't find any 6 cyl vehicles in the color combination (black w/ indigo) I wanted, so I "settled" for the hemi.
Just curious about recommended tire pressures ? Sticker inside door says 36psi. Took delivery with @ 41 psi in all four 20 inch Goodyears. Guess I should let some air out unless there is a reason for over-inflating ?

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

Valuable point: I had really wondered how useful 7th and 8th (both overdrive) would be when towing. 1.0 (6th) with a 3.45 & 30" tires sounds about right for a boat but load depends a lot on the cdA above 60 - deep V or Pontoon ? Wide beam ? 5th (4.43:1) does seem too low.

Too bad nothing works out to 3.90-4.11 which is a good towing gear, would think with an 8-speed one could go there - would need a 1.15:1 ratio.

Wonder if the next iteration will be more like 5th - 1.285 (same), 6th 1.15, 7th 1.0, & 8th .667 (same).

Higher tire pressure will lower rolling resistance but doubt if much with 20"s. How fast did you drive coming come ? MPG drops fast above 60.

But if it holds 6th with a 3,000 lb trailer, thet is pretty good.

My '92 Transport had a 3800 with 220 lb-ft torque at 2000 rpm, 3.33 axle, 26" tires, and a .87 top & could pull a 3,000 lb car on a dolly with no problem, most hiills it just unlocked then locked back up on the flat (we have a lot of flat but some hills on the 'pike around Clermont).

I have heard that Chrysler uses a very aggresive lockup which may be a factor in the proper gear. Would be interesting to know if it unllocks when it downshifts.

It has been said/written that over inflating tires give better mpg by the nuts that write hypermileage articles and the sorts. However the ride quality and the tire wear is not worth it imho for a freaking 1mpg or whatever it is. Just my $0.02.

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

Average overall MPG has increased a bit. Even just over the course of todays driving. Mixed Hwy, a little bit of city and then some B Road light driving around 55mph. Also been pretty light on the throttle and had the MPG screen up.

Right now as it stands 17.9 with the HEMI and I am extremely happy with that. Could only imagine how good the MPG would be if I were driving a diesel.

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

Just went over 1000 miles and average 16.8 mpg, with at least 700 of those miles being in city...Not bad for a V8 SUV IMO.

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

I'm averaging 15.5mpg after 400 miles on my V6 ('14 Overland). Seems lows. But then again, it's been 98% city. I've only been on the freeway a couple of times and it was short distance.

Re: '14 - Roll call for MPG figures

Just finished a five day trip during which I drove my '14 Limited with the Hemi 1,505.6 mainly highway miles; averaged 19.794 mpg per my direct calculation v. 20.4 as shown by the trip computer. This was on 89 octane 10% ethanol fuel the entire trip.
