Re: 15 Overland gremlins

Well had the GC out a couple of times today. So far so good everything is working normally. Kept checking dash for headlight symbol and putting windows up and down. Hopefully was just a one time glitch. Thanks everyone for the replies.

Re: 15 Overland gremlins

Well the gremlins have reared there ugly head again yesterday 3 times I went for a drive and everytime I parked and tried to close windows nothing happens. This is only for the front windows the rears work fine. Cannot figure it out called dealer to ask if there is any sort of self reset. He said absolutely not must be brought to dealer. I then asked if I disconnected battery for reset would that possibly help. He said I should never attempt to disconnect my own battery as I might do something terrible to my vehicle. I told him that doesn't the dealer need to do that sometimes to fix a problem. He said yes but we know what we're doing. He talked to me like I was a child playing with matches. I thought about telling him what was on my mind but held my tongue. I then thanked him for his useless answers and hung up. I will be disconnecting battery later today. If that does not help I guess it will be off to dealer as they know what there doing. Hope I don't seize my engine up.😄😄😄😄

I agree with your plan remove the battery cable leave it off for at least 30 minutes and reconnect. while doing that as mentioned above make sure all your fuses are seatted in the fuse box under the hood. Half of my fuses were loose and barely pushed in when i bought the jeep. If the battery reset fails take it to the dealer. Youd be surprised how many electric gremlins the battery reset will cure and how a dealer will rip into a car without even thinking to do that. It is a quick and easy thing to try and may save you a lot of drama at these clueless dealers.

Re: 15 Overland gremlins

Yep silver I just checked the fuses and guess what every single one was not seated. Pushed them all till I heard a click. Also have the battery disconnected as we speak. Hopefully this fixes my issues but not counting on it. Also when I hit the start button for acc or run I do hear a click coming from drivers side window controls. Does anyone else notice that. Not a very happy camper with a Jeep that has 781 miles on it. ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1431795449.398214.jpg

I usually take the negative terminal off of the battery under the passenger seat, not sure if there are any stray wires hooking into the positve terminal between there and battery or not, may want to check and be sure so you know you are getting a full reset. Negative does have some stray wire into it at the battery post. Hope it works for you.

Sorry to hear that. Its always worth a try but yes let the dealer figure it out its a new car you should not have to do anything more.
The issues i have usually had were usually caused by software flashes and cable pull has fixed those. Just keep it in mind for the future.

Re: 15 Overland gremlins

Sorry, but I doubt disconnecting the battery will fix it.
I too would disconnect at the battery.
I would try to wait until it fails more routinely before bringing it in though.
If it's not failing when you bring it in, it's gonna be a needle in a hay stack to find.

Re: 15 Overland gremlins

Yea I did not think it was a cure all either. But I figured it was worth a shot. And like you say you know it won't happen at the dealership. It is a very strange problem though headlights turn on in auto mode in bright sun , only front windows do not work , only drivers side mirror folds , tailgate will not open or close. Now I see that the nav screen is starting to act up also powers up intermittently. So the problem seems to be spreading. I'am starting to wonder if all these problems stem from a bad head unit as almost all functions come from head unit. ?

Make sure when they check in your jeep that you have the service advisor enter every symptom you've been experiencing. Have him show you the service write up PRIOR to you signing anything. Double check the wording and if it's not to your liking have them edit and re-print. Trust me, in the long run you will be thankful you had it worded exactly as you described to us. Once you pickup your jeep make sure to get a copy of the closed service ticket.

Re: 15 Overland gremlins

Yep thanks ant I intend to do just as you said. I just hope it is something that can be fixed without tearing my vehicle apart. I have tried some of those factory resets today. I actually thought I might have rectified the problem as everything was good for a few hours. But then all went downhill when I seen the headlight symbol on and the radio went dead. So I will be making an appointment in the morning.
