One question...my phone LG Cosmos paired without problem, BUT I cannot see my phone book....any suggestions? ? ?

hey Yukon, the 430n doesnt download the phonebook from your phone to the unit. Instead it uses BT Voice dialing. Press the Phone button on the stearing wheel and just say "Call contact on mobile" for example. All of the dialing is done voice or directly on the device. I was unable to find a phonebook or dial pad on the actual 430n screen.

This feature is sweet and works 100% of the time for me when I am alone in my vehicle. But when I have a passenger and try to show it off for them, things get comical. I was trying to call our hosts from the road during our New Years trip and it was bringing up all kinds of names that were wrong. Thankfully it always asks you to verify before dialing. It may still be learning my voice.

On a side note, I just now popped in the owner's DVD for a look. I'm interested to see what it contains that is not on the very well-executed iPhone/iPad app that I use all the time.

are you saying with the 430 there is no phone book you can touch to dial on the screen? I hope you don't have to use voice controls, those always suck.

Mashie, Cperez...Hi guys, This afternoon sitting in the Overland I opened my phones contacts, options...BT download all contacts...had to turn Phone BT off first then go back to contacts via BT downloaded contacts...saw the progress and Uconnect phone declared received all contacts. The problem is I can't find where it put them. From what I understand Uconnect should display the phone book

There is no touchscreen dialpad on the 430n. If you feel the need to dial by touch, just pick up your phone and go Amish, Jebediah. Every now and then if VR ain't cutting it for me, that's what I'll do. Tonight I ran the voice training routine and will see if that improves it, but it's already very good in my experience.

Re phonebook, I saw a message saying that it was d/l my phonebook but it was very unobtrusive and seemed to take only a few seconds. This surprised me because I have around ~2400 contacts. The tutorial talks about a "uConnect phonebook" also.

Everything seems to happen behind the scenes very smoothly in terms of phone integration with the 430n. The only glitch besides the random VR goofiness is that texting by voice doesn't work. It will let me compose and "send" a message, but I get a fail notification. I have not tested it with incoming text messages yet. FYI I use an iPhone 4 with the latest update.

Yukon, see my note to Bozer which addresses the phantom phonebook. How the contacts download to the 430n may differ from phone to phone, but with my iPhone, it happened without any intervention by me. I wonder if yours would have transfered if you had just waited.

Try the voice dial feature. Press the phone button and after the beep, say "Call [contact name] work" (or say home or mobile depending on which phone you're trying to reach them on). You don't need a visible phonebook to interact with when you can use your voice.

voice only, which for me seems to work 99% of the time or manually dialing from your phone.

Thanks....I will play with it tomorrow, let you know how it turns out. Everything else so far is just sweet. The ride is much smoother than had anticipated. After driving the GMC Denali for the past 4 years this seems like a sports car. I have a Garmin Nuvi 660, so I am familiar with the Nav....think I like it better than the 730. I was hoping for phone book download similar to the Nuvi BUT no such
luck, you would have thought they would have followed a proven plan.
