Re: 16 hemi limited or SRT?

So when I hear some folks saying they use the SRT as a daily driver then it really isn't because of the gas mileage of the 6.4 hemi.

Lol, no it definitely isn't because of the fuel economy. I mean obviously you can't expect a 5000lb SUV with almost 500 hp to be great on fuel, but as a daily drive IMO it gets old after a while. I tried it, loved my SRT, but she is a thirsty one.
I did however love the fact that my '06 Z06 with 505hp would get almost 30mpg highway....and it could run circles around an SRT. It has a few less seats that's all

Glad to see someone else confirm the Vette's good MPG's - of course, you have to drive conservatively to get those numbers! Light weight and ultra tall gearing is a nice thing!

Re: 16 hemi limited or SRT?

I'm curious also, why wait for the 2017 in particular?

I like my 15 SRT, and it's my daily driver during the winter months. The gas mileage is on par with my previous suv which was not an SRT. Aside from poor handling in the snow and a lot of tire (or bearing) noise, it's fantastic.

Although the gas mileage may seem like a big deal to some, think of this the SRT an get 13 mpg on 93 locally, while the hemi limited may get 14 mpg on 87. This will equate to about a $0.03 difference in cost per mile, including the difference in fuel grade. Don't make a decision purely based on a few cents per mile when there are so many other factors to consider.

Re: 16 hemi limited or SRT?

I'd normally say SRT, but you already have a GT350 for fun driving. Get the 75th anniv. edition.

I could swing a SRT no problem, cash. But I choose a V6 gas Summit.

I love the looks of the SRT inside and out, but I won't buy a gas guzzler.

V6 has enough power for me.

With a 60 mile commute it's really a no brainer.

My commute is 9 minutes and I still choose the V6 (but I still do 20k miles a year).

I'd take an Overland/Summit over a Limited in any configuration (although you can get pretty close to a Overland with a loaded Limited, but why would you?).

The SRT will lose value like a rock too. But if money was no object and you like the power, go for it.

Re: 16 hemi limited or SRT?

actually it's a more legitimate question than you think. I was weighing the SRT vs. 5.7 Summit question myself. I drove both, loved the way the summit rode. I would be forced to give up, suede headliner, power folding mirrors, air ride and multiple off-road settings. Those are some nice creature comforts. SRT rode like a skate board. How often does one get this on the track, versus everyday normal driving? Of course cost played a factor as the SRT was about 7K more. For about 100 more HP and Torque, not worth it IMO.

Re: 16 hemi limited or SRT?

My 14 SRT gets 22 on highway trips...which was better or equal to my wifes 2011 durango 3.6 v6. That thing didnt like doing 75 mph ot seemed when the SRt does it effortlessly at 2000 rpms. Then u have an absolute beast when u wanna punch it. Now city mileage is not so good...but what 6.4l 500 hp vehicle is?
