Re: 16 hemi limited or SRT?

My lifetime mileage on my 14 SRT at 12k is less than 12mpg. Very high percentage of city driving, and I floor it literally everywhere.

Don't care, worth every gallon I put in

Like Scott said, it'll better 20 MPGs on the hwy, unless you like to hit 100mph a few times here and there

Re: 16 hemi limited or SRT?

i got the 5.7 Overland for my daily driver, i need to tow and occasionally go on trails/muddy roads at the range. i didn't like the idea of having 500hp and a compromised 4WD especially in the winter here. Ive never really liked the idea of one car that does it all, you'd up with a bunch of compromises here and there and it really ends up doing everything mediocre. Granted, driving the SRT was a absolute blast. I'm going to drive the wheels off my Overland and continue to convince my wife i need Lingenfelter corvette as our third car.

SRT. Because you only live once and you can't take it with you.

There have been things posted about the Trackhawk in the forum already as well as in the press.

Re: 16 hemi limited or SRT?

ok so i've been banging my head on this one. Now, the 16 Limited is out! I have one more shot at this. I'm either getting a 16 SRT or a 16 High Altitude Hemi. Just love the look of the SRT and the HA looks close. It's a DD and I too see the gas guage flow everyday but if you really do the math on a V6 or a Hemi I bet it's not more than $900 a year in gas purchasing the same octane.

Re: 16 hemi limited or SRT?

Yeah you might be right. I traded in my 15 Altitude for a 15 Durango which after a week traded in for a 16 Trailhawk which a couple weeks later back to a another 15 Altitude, But i'm giving that one to my wife and I am trading in her 14 Limited for my 3rd SRT Jeep. I was fighting it but love the SRT.

Re: 16 hemi limited or SRT?

SRT is the way to go IMO. But try to hang on to it for at least a month I always have a hard time after about 10 months, I want something else real bad.

Even though an SRT will be alot harder to pay for. I've had a 14 SRT already and I must say it's an incredible automobile. What's your opinion?

There's no question that you can afford it. Good for you. But going from and/or owning in just 2 years:

14 Limited
14 SRT
15 Altitude
15 Durango
16 Trailhawk
15 Altitude

16 SRT (or 75th Anniversary)

doesn't exude "loves autos and loves the unique mystique of specialty autos and loves performance" but rather automotive confusion. And also proof that the Jeep brand, to which you come back, isn't really satisfying you. You've gone through the essentially 5+1 variations of the same car and technology yet you didn't find what you were looking for. Just that stretch within a matter of weeks involving 4 cars shows that you are just unhappy with the brand's offerings. I am not sure how optioned out all those cars were, nor do I care.

My advice (remember you solicited the forum) is to look outside of the Jeep environment.
You have no interest in off-roading, so street performance is what you are after. If it is luxury or performance maybe to a Range Rover SVR or some other supercharged variant. Or maybe you should look at Ford and at an eco-boosted V6 Explorer and turn the boost up on that one. You want a bigger truck yet you probably gave up your 14 SRT in part due to fuel economy.

You are not getting anything (drastically) different Jeep period. Unless you get an SRT, everything else will keep you unhappy and in a car-trading loop whereas the SRT will keep a few boxes ticked on the happiness survey. Since you are obviously able to do that from financial, marital and dealership relationship standpoints, either get the SRT or don't get a Jeep at all. Or, as others have suggested, you would be better served by 2 cars... like a Laredo and a Challenger SRT.

Re: 16 hemi limited or SRT?

OP talks a good game.

But, I'll play. I think if you can ONLY have 1 car and you are addicted to high horsepower but have to have space to haul people, large items and maybe tow occasionally, then the SRT is a good choice. If you just really like SRT's then it's a good choice. If you have $$ to burn, it's a good choice.
If you already have a Shelby GT 350 (or a Corvette, Ferrari, Lambo, ___ or don't have any of these, but just like to pretend on internet forums) then it's not really a practical choice.

If you have a fast car already, (i.e. the aforementioned cars) then having a comfortable, capable SUV is the natural compliment to your auto stable. Buy the Hemi GC and you have loads of torque which enhances the driving pleasure (IMO), you get just enough of the V8 sound which I find pleasing, and it's still a very comfortable riding vehicle and fuel economy that is close enough to the V6 that I don't feel that I'm funding ISIS at every fuel up.
If you already have a GT 350, but are still having trouble finding your d!ck every time you need to take a piss, go ahead and get the SRT... you'll be asking us what color your next Hellcat should be in a few weeks.
