Re: 18" Overland wheels

Sorry for the delay, I was out touring colleges with my son for a few days.

Yes, I left the rims on the truck when I did the dipping. I did mask off the lug nuts and used the cut plastic bag to protect the rotors/brakes. Very easy but it does take some time. Be patient and be sure to clean and dry the rims completely before starting.

So, I ordered mine today and couldn't get the 20's with ORAII no matter how hard I tried or offered to pay extra. So now that I'm stuck with the 18's, is there a recommendation for a good on AND off road tire that has a beefier look than those latitudes?

Same here ...

Personally, I like the 18's, but the factory tires really kill the look. 18's with more agressive tires look 100x better than the stock 18 "look".

Re: 18" Overland wheels

Replacement Tires -

I've seen a couple of pics on the forum of guys with Nitto Terra Grapplers on their rig. Good looking tire but I have no idea about capabilities.

You can also get Firestone Destination A/T's. I've seen these on several Jeeps in my area and they look well. I've ridden on them in a pick-up and have had good luck with them but I don't know how they are for longevity.

Another option Michelin LTX A/T's. Not as "aggressive" in a tire profile but a good tire. They will start to give the Michelin howl after time on the highway.

I've had Yokahama Geolanders on one of my past vehicles (non-Jeep). They're a good tire but will howl as the tread wears thin and won't last very long.

Just some thoughts and personal experiences. Hopefully it's helpful or others will chime in. Personally, I want to learn/hear more on the Nitto's.

Re: 18" Overland wheels

I think if you go ORAII and the 18's it should be a wash; smaller rims but actual AT threads.

I hope in mid '14, Jeep makes a couple of common sense changes like this. And offers 1.) Audio Upgrade with Overland, 2.) AT tires with ORAII, 3.) 6.4L Option with Summit, and 4.) 6.4L Summit in Australia :P

I'd like to hear more about the Nittos too if anyone has input. Those are the ones I'm looking at but having a tough time finding the size.

Re: 18" Overland wheels

based on a three-sentence conversation with Ralph Gilles at Carlisle, I would not ever expect to see a 6.4L in anything not SRT.

If I could have gotten the 6.4L in my overland, I'd have written the check immediately.
