Re: 1st time poster... Questions about SUV width and garage.

Just a fit note. See if the hatch can open completely in the garage without hitting the open door. Some have complained about this.

If you move up to the Overland you get power folding mirrors.

So quick update... My friend has a 2010 Honda Pilot and was able to park it in my garage. From what I've read, it's slightly larger than the JGC. It was a little tight, but it fit, so I have high hopes now!

Yeah, mine hits in my garage. What I do is duct tape carpet padding to the inside of the garage door where the rear hatch hits it. That way it's nice and cushioned and I can open the rear hatch with impunity. I brush it off with a hand broom every so often just to make sure there's not any grit trapped in the fabric that can scratch the paint.

Does the hatch open automatically when you press the button, or do you have to open it yourself? We've got a 2 year old that loves to play with keys and I'm fairly sure an auto-open hatch would hit the garage door.

You have to press the button on the fob twice to open the hatch. There is also a button in the overhead center console (near the controls for the sunroof) which will open the hatch, and of course you can open the hatch by pulling the rear handle.

I'm currently looking at the 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited and am concerned about it fitting inside my garage.

My garage door is approximately 95" wide, and the total size of the two car garage is around 20' wide. I've read that that the grand Cherokee is about 76.5", but that's not factoring mirrors. I'm currently parking a 2004 Nissan maxima in the garage, and it's got a little bit of room on each side (the Nissan is 72.5" wide not factoring in mirrors). What's the width of the grand Cherokee factoring in the mirrors?

Any advice? I know the only way to know for sure is to try and park one in the garage, but that's not really possible unless I drive one off the lot.

Thank you for any help you can give me!
While I do not have the measurements of my garage I can tell you my experience with my 2014 limited

I have a two car garage with separate doors.
My jeep fits width wise between the frame with a little room to spare. I had to teach myself the proper spacing but now I can pull in and out with ease. Embarassed to say my wife learned faster than me.

As far as length goes, I have a large shelf against the rear wall The jeep will not fit under it but again I taught myself how far to go in. I have enough room to walk behind it with the door closed. If there were no shelf there would be tons of depth room

I will not raise the lift gate with the garage door open or closed. I back the car out if I have to load or unload something.

Your mileage may vary
Hope I was of some help

Men, when it comes to your garage, size does matter!
