Re: 20 inch vs 18 Off Road

Thanks for the replies. Will probably just use it for jeep jamborees and some lightto moderate off roading.

Not planning on doing anything crazy but want to be able to take the family out for some weekend adventures.

You will be fine on the 20s for what you want to use them for that was my situation also just needed them to be able to do beaches and some back country camping mild-moderate. 18s are certainly better than 20s for off road no question there but the 1 inch in side wall you gain with the stock 18s is better yes but not a dramatic difference. if you want a more rugged tire in the stock 20 size look at the terra grappler. but if you decided to get into tougher rock crawling and stuff then the more sidewall the better.
My bent 20s have been from on road not off road, smacking asphalt pot holes at 40-50mph is a lot harder on a rim then 5-10 mph over some dirt/sand/gravel holes.

Re: 20 inch vs 18 Off Road

I took an Off Roading 101 class as Rausch Creek in PA. I made it 1/2 of the way on my 20s before I sliced the tire on a protruding rock. The instructor did tell me that the 101 class is relatively mild, so they should have made it. For any off roading around rocks and water - get 18s

Re: 20 inch vs 18 Off Road

Definitely get 18 inch for your off road excursions.

I have 20 inch rims and tires for my everyday driving, and when we go out I have a set of 18 inch rims with tires, check my latest post you"ll see some videos on some trails with some river and mud holes crossing..those are with the 18 inch.

How do you like the V6? Torn between the V6 and the V8 with quadra drive.

I have the V6 and zero issues with it, enough power for all my needs, then again I have to say that down here the V8 is not available so I dont know what I would have done if available, but lets be honest...V6 and 295 hp is more than enough for at least 95% of drivers, so if the price is similar I suggest the V8, if the difference is a little bigger get the V6 and you'll be very happy also.
