Re: 2011 GC Too Typical?

I thought the WK looked Jeep when it came out and in many ways better than the WJ it replaced (but not as good as a 5.9 ZJ ), but the IFS and SRT8 not being a real 4wd that turned me off to it, until recently.

This new soccer mom run-of-the-mill design...bleh. Especially for the close to $50k it'll probably be (fully loaded 4x4). The *only* thing that saves it is the available Hemi, but even then...

This will be my last Grand Cherokee (WK) for sure, unless I get another 5.9 or something.

Re: 2011 GC Too Typical?

I was all set to buy a 2005 WK until I saw it. I just stuck it out with my Yukon Denali a little longer but I am definitley ready for the WK2, I think its an improvement in every area. And I am actually very glad the look is subdued...I'm sick of flashy cars, not trying to look like I'm in a rap video everytime I run to the store for milk.

My opinion exactly. ZJs really stood out among SUVs. WJs were OK, enough for me to sell my sister one, I think the WK is a little small, but workable. The HEMI saves it. The new one just doesn't stir anything in me. For the price, I'll buy an older Jeep XJ, ZJ, WJ project... and a 1-2 year old pre-owned Lexus/Genesis or something.

The new WK2 just doesn't do anything for me. Nothing. Nada.

Re: 2011 GC Too Typical?

The WK was starting to grow on me, really. Someone above mentioned take the rounding out of the headlights. That's something I would've liked to see.

I doubt it. For one, I'm not the type that needs the newest, hottest ride. I appreciate that buyer segment for providing the demand that fuels automotive design/change. I'm just not a part of it. For another, Jeep GC design seems to keep moving away from what I like, not towards. This latest design is further proof. To me, Jeep=angles, not curves. Boxy, non-aerodynamic designs that push their way through life by brute force. Not sleek and curvy. One more reason, I think GC are ridiculously overpriced.

Keep in my this is my opinion, my choice.
