2011 Grand Cherokee Overland

I'm looking at purchasing a 2011 GCO with 73K miles. The listing price is $26,998. After looking at KBB this seems to be reasonable and appears to be listed below blue book. I won't be able to test drive until this weekend so if it's still available is there anything I should be looking for or asking about? I guess my biggest concern is the high mileage after only 3 years. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland

I have a 12 overland I bough with around 20k on it.

These new Jeeps have a ridiculous amount of tech in them so verify all that works. I would get the specification to see what options the car has equipped and go down the list. Drive it around see how the idle feels. There is a lot of information online about testing for these cars you can find. If it has the v8 HEMI I would watch out. It is a lot more upkeep then the v6 version and I can see many people not bothering to change the spark plugs every 30k. Brakes squeaking. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

If you have anyone more knowledgeable than you and who will help that would really alleviate all the stress. My brother is a mechanic so I kinda just waited for his diagnosis.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland

nadim77389 thanks for the information.

Wow, spark plugs every 30K miles? Is that common for newer V8 engines or just the V8 5.7L Hemi? I see the 2014 5.7L Hemi is 100K. I took at look at the maintenance schedule and this seems to be the only item that needs to be replaced more often than other maintenance items depending on the conditions the vehicle is driven. Is there anything else that I should be concerned with?

No they changed it on the newer models just not so lucky for me and you. Most people are pretty surprised when I tell them or just don't believe me. If you think that is bad you should see what they require for their new diesel engines they are putting in the GC... You don't technically have to change them just expect to lose MPG and acceleration. BUT that being said don't buy the car unless you are prepared to follow the proper maintenance or choose ignorance as many do and wonder why their cars don't function as well as they hoped.

Here is the schedule I follow. Just scroll down.

Hope this helps.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland

I just got a 2011 JGC Overland HEMI with 16k miles. With 73k miles, I HIGHLY recommend you look into some sort of extended warranty. You still have a piece of your powertrain left tho. Personally, I went with the maximum care lifetime coverage....didn't want to take any chances!

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland

Has anyone bought a JGC from CarMax and gotten the MaxCare warranty? What has been your experience? Anyone familiar with extended warranties for high mileage Jeeps?
