I am weighing other options or just may keep my 2007 RDX for another year.
Cool...well, it's good that you have a new car and can take your time if necessary. I'm happy to post pics if/when this car actually arrives, and the potential Overland buyers that may be on the sideline could use these to make their decision accordingly. I do respect that we are all either 1) buying, like me or 2) considering buying a car literally sight unseen (unless folks went to the LA autoshow, or have been able to see it another way). It's not an easy thing to drop $50K on a car from just looking at pictures. Respect the decision, take time...I'll share pics. All good.

u know what? not to derail the topic, but those greyish wood pieces would look so good on the charcoal grey exterior with black leather,

Keirik - You'll need to do the Lerado with upgrades since the Summit only comes with a Saddle interior. Or buy an Overland and replace the wood....

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Before I pull the trigger on a new 2011, does anyone have any insights into the transmissions? Specifically, I have read where the current V6 5-speed transmission may get replaced with a smoother shifting multi-speed transmission (apparently already available in Europe?) sometime in the later part of 2011. Does anyone know if the current V8 multi-speed transmission may get replaced with a better transmission? The reason I ask is if the V8 multi-speed won't be changed anytime soon, it is just another reason to pick the V8 now versus going with the V6. Any insights would be appreciated! Thanks...

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

theres nothing solid on this but the consensus seems to be that the new transmission probably wont appear until the 2013 mid cycle refresh.

Are you referring to the V6 5-speed transmission ONLY or is there a replacement for the V-8 multi-speed transmission in the works too???

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

They are both going to be replaced with a ZF designed 8 speed. I've heard rumors about a 6 speed unit bridging the gap on the v6 but they are just that, rumors.

Look for the 8 speed auto at the mid cycle refresh, probably 2013 along with LED tailights and probably LED DRLs up front (since the rest of the chrysler lineup seems to be getting these) along with new colors and probably wheel designs.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had the newer media center that is on the new 300 as well. If you look at the original sketches for the WK2 it had an almost identical layout as the new 300 will have. I wouldn't mind having that nav system and forget the mess with the 430N vs 730N...

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

I've got my affiliate info (thanks Tread Lightly! for the prompt service) and assigned control number for the 1% below invoice pricing. Ready to order the Summit, but am thinking of ordering the Brilliant Black exterior instead of the Mineral Gray (black trim, piping, and stitching goes well with either but maybe better with black exterior). Will negotiate so no additional "dealer fees" which shouldn't be hard. Plus with new incentives coming out in January there may be incentives for buyers (only leasing incentives now and the $500 military cash incentive) by the time I take delivery which would be a nice bonus...will see. But I think I am ready to order this week.

@ Dan JGC : I don't receive my Summit until mid Jan, but I noticed above you mentioned 'additional dealer fees' on top of the control number. Can you please elaborate on what charges the dealer could add? I thought when I provided my control number, that the dealers cannot add any additional fees. Would be interested in thoughts here on what these charges are, and what you can get in writing prior to taking delivery that will guarantee no shenanigans by the dealer. Thks in advance.
