Joe, I got the 430n RHB and it is absolutely fine for my needs. My first use confirmed that I had placed way too much initial priority on this item in the "grand" scheme of things. I'm still not crazy about the cartoony map renderings that Garmin uses, but I also noticed that I have come to enjoy and rely upon the turn-by-turn directions that pop up in the EVIC. For me, the turns are more critical info than the stuff in between. I'm still learning it though. For instance, the other day I got it to display the view that shows the specific lane change, but now I can't figure out how I did it. Frankly I've spent more time on other priority stuff like programming Homelink (a snap), loading music on the HDD (not sure I'm using best practices in terms of file management on the USB stick), and oh yeah--just sitting in there and soaking up the pleasure!

My biggest use of the 430n has nothing to do with the "n". I'm about the music playback and the Sirius radio. Can't get enough of that "Seventies on 7" or Classic Vinyl! I'm also loving the replay feature that buffers up to 30 minutes of radio. Someone calls during the opening riff of "La Grange"? No problem, just rewind and turn it up to 11 when the call is over. Sweet.

Looking forward to what the rumored January update offers...

This must be killing you, Joe. Any movement on your decision timeline? Don't let the radio kerfuffle turn you toward another vehicle. This thing is the $#it, buddy!

Excellent advice, Mashie, especially the smile-and-dial approach that sends a message that you are not kicking tires but are on a mission and have an agenda. Any halfway seasoned sales professional is going to detect this from a mile away and do whatever is necessary to keep you from getting away.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Went to a new dealer today that was a bit further away....nice, newer facility and a very busy dealership with a professional staff. They are right next door to a new Lexus dealer. The clientele in this dealership was more upscale too.

Got it ordered. And what they were willing to give for a trade in was substantially higher than two other dealerships (my current Jeep is in near perfect condition). They would even take the trade in today and have it as one transaction (for sales tax purposes) when the order comes in but I only have one vehicle right now so it isn't feasible (sold my other one 3 weeks ago).

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition 4x4 5.7L V8 in Brilliant Black.

Here is the pricing (MSRP / FWP):

WKJS74: $41,910 / $39,423
25R: $4,085 / $3,636
EZH: $1,995 / $1,776
XS3: $275 / $245
3XL: -$305 / -$271
Destination: $780
Total Price: $48,740 / $45,589
HB: $1,439
FFP: $45,133 (<--- the price I am paying with the affiliate pricing)
EP: $43,385

Right now the new 730N RHR is NOT orderable so I get the 430N RHB (that is why there is a discount above). I told them I am willing to pay the extra for the new 730N RHR so perhaps it can be changed before it is built but they said there is no way to enter such a preference into the ordering system at this time since it is not available yet.

The other dealer lost out...oh well.

Am happy with this new dealer...a real asset to Jeep.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

I also noticed recently, that the base price of a 4x4 Overland went from MSRP $41,120 to $41,910....a $790 price increase.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Chris, I am still reluctant to pull the trigger with the 430. I know it may be silly, but I plan to live with this vehicle several years and don't want to compromise. I am also getting a bit apprehensive about Chrysler due to the way they have mismanage this launch. But at the end of the day, after hearing so many praises, I will eventually buy it.

There have been no price increases on the 2011 Overland since it was launched.

Then there are some errors in other things.....

(1) http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_overland_summit.htm

States that "1b. Base MSRP 4WD: $41,120 ($38,704)"

(2) I have a "Configuration Preview" printout from another dealer with a Date Printed of 12/16/10 that states "WKJS74 GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND 4X4 41,120 38,704" which concurs with point (1) above.

Meanwhile, my "Configuration Preview" printout says "41,910 39,423" respectively.

Something isn't right with one of these....help???

Thanks.....

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

I had printed out http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_overland_summit.htm before I went to the dealer and the numbers didn't jiv with what the dealer was quoting me so I sat there for 5 minutes trying to figure out if the dealer was showing me an incorrect price print out... After my unhappy experience with that other dealer, I was cautious. When I got home, the Jeep.com website build website confirmed the dealer's prices so I figured there was a price increase or something.

Please clarify....thank you.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

The total price on http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_overland_summit.htm then are also off since it states "4WD Summit Edition with 5.7L $48,255 ($44,696)" but is really $49,045"

In my order, it is $305 less since the 430N is substituted for the 730N (RER).

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Went to my local dealer today to inquire about the Summit Edition. The salesman hadn't heard of it and the sales manager said it wasn't available to order. I got more information from JeepGarage..

The "$41,120" MSRP price you have seen is the price of the Overland without Quadra-Lift. When the Overland was introduced, the MSRP was $41,910 but had a temporary credit deduction of $790 since QL was not available at launch.

$41,120 + $790 = $41,910.

As mentioned, there have been no price increases, as the Overland has always been $41,910 - but there have been credits for QL as well as the navigation radio.

Jeep publishes their pricing in 3 places - dealer code guides, the online dealer order system, and the consumer web site. Rarely do they all ever match as mistakes are common (mainly with the consumer site).

Even after QL became available, Jeep was still building vehicles without QL, they sort of phased it in. This added to the "$41,120/$41,910" price confusion as vehicles were being sold at both prices at the same time. Then add in the nav radio credits and you can see why it's difficult to keep up with the actual pricing.

Pricing for a 4WD Summit with the Hemi:

Base MSRP 4WD Overland: $41,910 ($39,423)

Base MSRP + Summit package + New Saddle surcharge + 5.7L Hemi + Destination + premium navigation*: $49,045 ($45,318)

*Base MSRP pricing includes the premium navigation radio 730N. Since the base navigation radio (Garmin RHB) is currently being substituted for the RHR, a credit of $305 ($271) will be deducted from the pricing listed above until the RHR becomes available.
