Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Hollywood, I agree with you. I like the lighter interior, but I keep my Jeep forever, (mine is a 1996), and I do not think the light interior will remain clean looking that long. My current Jeep is stone white with black interior and that has done very well, but I want a change now.

I also did not like the 4 colors we were limited to on the Summit and frankly, I was not in love with the Summit to justify the extra $$$. I did not like the dark wood trim, the chrome grill was just too much, and the saddle interior in there was too much saddle.

I ordered the vehicle today and the dealer did 2 things for me: there has been a price increase and he did not charge me for that and at this point, he did not charge the $75 in using the TL discount. I think my deal was fair.

There is one problem at this point. They could not get the order to take the saddle option. They will continue to try and keep me posted. I hope it is available!

What do you fellow Jeep owners think of the deal? I have never paid less than invoice. Have any of you?

I plan on selling my Jeep outright, but I did ask what they would give for a trade. They said $1000.00-nice vehicle, but too old. Mileage is 99,400. Any thoughts on this proposal?

Thanks for your thoughts!

On my 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4x4 V8 Hemi, loaded, I got $9,660 off the MSRP of $43,420. Best I have ever gotten.

The TL price is a fair and easy deal at this time for the Overlands and Summits.

I didn't know there was a price increase....perhaps the price was higher because standard features were omitted earlier because of late availability???

I also heard that Jeep isn't allowing people to order Saddle on the Overlands if they are critical of the Saddle in the Summits..... just kidding.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Sorry for the double post!

Dan, I think you just uncovered the reason for my difficulty in getting the saddle!

You got quite a deal on your '05! I am glad to hear your thoughts on the deal I got. I did feel comfortable, but I like to verify. I hope it is as easy when the vehicle comes in.

I also thought that the price increase could have been for the new extra standard equipment-I thought of the quadra lift. I called Jeep to be sure that the quadra lift was standard and they said it was. I did not want to order the vehicle and then have it come in without it since I paid less than I should have. I am just so confused with getting this vehicle together!

My next project is getting the mud flaps for it and pinstriping. One dealer I visited had a neat two tone pinstripe down the side with the small Jeep logo that is on the headlamps about a foot or so from the back of the stripe. I will check with a local body shop for this. If not, I guess I will have the dealer do it. I just thought it might be cheaper done elsewhere. As for the mud flaps, I am not sure if the front wheels will need it since I got the chrome pkg and that has the running boards in it. I did not need the front flaps on my current Jeep, but the running boards are the ones that are the same body color and a different type. Any thoughts on this is greatly appreciated.

You don't happen to have a pic of that pinstriping, do you? Sounds interesting.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Hollywood, I don't but I will try to describe. There are two thin stripes going down the side. The upper is darker than the lower, so for example, on the Jeep I have ordered, the upper stripe will be a dark brown metallic and the lower one would be a gold metallic. As the stripe reaches the rear, I'd say about the center of the rear wheel well, the stripe breaks and a jeep logo- the headlights with the grill-is there in the dark brown. The stripe then picks up to the end. At the very start and finish of the stripe, the lines appear to be joined/overlapping. I thought it really added something to the vehicle. Hope this helps.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Yeah, thanks. I'm thinking I'll probably just go to my paint guy, and have someone hand paint a double pinstripe. Looks like we're going to go with the Mineral Gray with the Light and Dark Frost Beige Interior. I'll probably have a thin double strip done with black on top and a beige color underneath, very discreetly to tie in the interior colors. Just wish I had a picture to bring.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Hollywood, you might want to try this website www.truecar.com. It will give you a good idea as to what you should be paying for your vehicle. I consulted it. It gives you contact with different dealers. I thought of going to the cheapest, but it was nearly 3 hours away and I like to have my vehicle serviced by the dealer, so I stayed close. Let me know what you think of it. Good luck!

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Yeah, good info! Their price is just about spot on with the TL 1% below Invoice. With the couple of options I've added (Hemi, Adaptive Cruise, 730N), including the $780.00 destination charge, I coming in at around $43,500.00 and $43,800.00 before Lifetime Maxcare Warranty and Tax.

Good point. Has anybody actually had pinstriping done? Pics?
