Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Correct me if I'm wrong, but even though it's not "matching or saddle" leather, isn't the dash on the Overland also Leather?? I'm fairly certain the one I looked at with the light and dark frost beige interior was leather, with a nice matching light "top stitch" that matched the seats.

That's correct, the dash and top portion of the doors is advertised as leather on the Overland so technically the Summit is simply a different color pallet.

It is possible that on the Overland it's not real leather and on the Summit it is but it's impossible to determine that from the published literature alone.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

From what I could tell by "feel" and observation of the top-stitching, it is in fact leather on the upper portions and dash of the Overland as well, which would make the only real difference between that and the Summit, the Chrome bits and pieces mentioned above, 730N, polished wheels (which frankly I think add too much of a "bling" factor) and the color pallet of the leather dash. I think it's safe to say, that the difference in price between the two basically is going to come down to "Cosmetic Preference", more than any real "Performance or Value" advantage.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

I just want to say that my comments on the Summit are not meant to be critical of those who want the Summit. I've paid a lot more than $3k in the past to get an interior or special color so I understand your motivation 100%. Actually, when you price everything out it looks like the "upcharge" to get the special color treatment is pretty much zero once you factor in the polished wheels, chrome package and 730N radio upgrades.

If the interior treatment tripped my trigger I would be right there in line with one on order. Luckily for my wallet I don't like it any better than the base Overland

But I do like those Polished wheels! Maybe someone with a Summit who would rather have the "less bling" painted wheels will want to work out a swap...... You never know.

The wheels were a big factor for me.....the cost to switch out Overland wheels is high. I really like the black olive wood too since i don't like the wood in the Limited or Overland as much at all. The "bling" isn't much....the chrome fog lamp bezels is not over bling....the chrome grill insert is a tad blingy though but not overly so. Plus, I had seen a saddle interior on an Overland and like it but felt they could have added a bit more saddle to look less two tone like but was acceptable. I have had a ton of Jeeps (since 1992) with slate/graystone type interiors so was looking for something different but classy....and saddle was it. Alternatively the dk/lt frost beige would have been a nice change too although the more grayer tone in the Laredo X looked better to me with even with the fake black wood trim.

But you're right....it is a lot of a preference thing...... By the time my Summit comes in I will have kept my 2005 for nearly 6 years....a record for me.

"In transits" are sold order's. Atleast thats what my dealership told me. So it looks like someone will be taking delivery of their Summit already.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

okay - i FIANLLY bit the bullet and placed my order on Saturday. I got my priced order confirmation sheet today with my VON & it looks like the 26R package has increased in price.

Per the link: http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_overland_summit.htm
the price was supposed to be $2995 + $295 for the saddle. Now there is no charge for the saddle leather or premium radio but the Summit package has increased to $4085 (plus destination).

Does anyone have any info regarding why the price increased?

sorry, I should have clarified:
1. I'm just curious and don't care (too much) because I want this vehicle THAT badly.
2. This is for a V6 4x4
