Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

I saw a summit in person and can confirm the cowboy double stitching we saw in some early photos didn't exist (looks great) and the wood is basically black. I plan on going to a lot today to possibly see one in the sunlight since the one I saw was at night inside a showroom. Maybe it isn't as black and more like the early photos we saw.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

According to the build sheet the dealer has and the hotline, they both show my Summit as having the 730N RHR and I'm currently in D1. Hopefully, it will be in I status soon but who knows..............?

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

The wood is cool. It is very dark black, but when light hits it you can see all the grain and complex coloring. It matches perfactly with the saddle.

On another note...I took delivery on my Summit last week with the 430n. The only issues I have with the truck relates to the 430n. Although the issues will likely get fixed with the update that is coming out, I wish I waited to order until the 730 came out. (edit - the more I play with the 430 the more I like it. Once the update comes out it should be great. The only thing I wish the 430 had is dead reckoning since I park in a garage. Overall I am glad I did not choose to wait for the 730)

I have already put 900 miles on the truck and absolutly love it. It is better than the 4.8i X5 I gave up and the summit beautiful. The hemi is fast, and with 65-70% highway driving I am averaging 16.7 MPG. So far the summet has far exceeded my high expectations. (edit - now that I am doing my daily commute mpg has dropped. It is still better than I expected.)

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Well.......I can't figure out how this delivery stuff actually works, but then the people that really know aren't talking, at least to me. The 12th date became the 18th, then the 18th became the 19th and who the heck knows now. These updates were from the hotline and Milous's date has never changed. So I figure it has to be the Summit situation from what I can see (duh).

Is the line sooooo long for the Summit they can't keep up? Or the suppliers are having trouble delivering items? That doesn't seem likely unless it is just Summit explicit items. Possibly they don't want to deliver the top of the line with less than the "standard" items such as the chrome fog light bezels or the much promised 730N RHR radio. Milous has said that the bulk of that radio would not be available until March 1.

It is totally embarassing to have Jeep not deliver at least the Summit with the promised radio. I mean come on, a lousy credit instead of what folks wanted enough to pay the boat for the Summit, not that those buyers are special. Growing pains obviously and we can only hope it is all getting straightened out. Maybe, just maybe all of us Summit buyers on Milous' list will get quick build and delivery from this point on (stop laughing). After all, you can see some Overland buyers have come and gone with lesser wait times, but that is life. What is a fanatic to do but wait! At least it won't be 5 months, I hope.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

^^^^ spiros...is it a 4x4 or 4x2? is it a V8 or a V6?

See: http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_overland_summit.htm

1% below invoice prices + $75 is a fair price. That should come to $45,234 I think...for a 4x4 V8.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

So I went to the dealer today to see what the status of my order was. Let me say that I have a bad taste in my mouth with this dealer. They haven't given me ANY update whatsoever with my Jeep. :/ And they didn't make it any better today so with all else ado here is the story (I will try and keep it short)
Well the salesman first told me that they won't be able to tell me much about the status of my order because the guy that orders them is on leave. WTF? Ok fine, so the salesman went to go ask his boss whats up. Well they came out and told me that my Jeep has been in production for 21 days. Whatever that means. In Production = D1 status? Does anyone know? They were confused though saying that it doesn't take 21 days to build a vehicle and told me it should be on it's way soon. Well then I bring up the radio issue, telling them that the 430 is the unit with the Garmin maps and the new 730 RHR doesn't go into production until March 1st and maybe that is what they are waiting on, because my Summit WILL be coming with the 730RHR. They had NO idea about the radio's, both the salesman and his boss were looking at me like deers in headlights, they were so lost! Then before I left I told my salesman NO dealer advertising on my Jeep! That I will not accept it with any dealer advertising on it unless they plan on paying me. He said No dealer plates, you can take it off when you leave, I said NO! Unless you plan on paying me. Oh, ok he said. Alright guy, you put any type of dealer crap on my Jeep, YOU WILL BE TAKING IT OFF BEFORE I LEAVE! UGH Why didn't I go to the other dealer in Anchorage? :/ I'm not canceling my order now, I'm just going to deal with it, and never ever recommend anyone to buy a vehicle from there! Horrible service, I'm not supposed to know more then them about their vehicles!!!
So all in all my good news is my Jeep is in production, and I do have a vin number assigned.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

You know, you're right. But it's not just Jeep. Last week for S's 'n Giggles, I went in to my local BMW dealer to check out the X5. For what it's worth, for 65K it ain't HALF the vehicle the Overland is!

Anyhow, point is, terrible sales people, sittin' around, drinking coffee. It's like I had to go out of my way to ask for help.

Unfrigginbelievable!
