Yep.....love love love my Black Summit and so very glad I stuck with black. With that said the Mineral Gray and Rugged Brown are both great colors too with the Rugged Brown having the advantage of being distinctive and rare.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Yes black is classic and looks great on the WK2. I'm sure I will be happy but there is still a twinge of disappointment over it. I wanted something a little different (for me) this time. I've owned 2 black cars before and our other car is black with lots of chrome so I really didn't want to have a matching sedan and suv. I thought about pursuing brown as it looks good as well but I was a little worried whether I would love the color in 2 years. I wasn't worried about mineral gray that way. I've owned a lot of cars over the years but a a pretty narrow range of colors (mainly red, black, or white). Of course I'm not counting any beaters that I drove as a teenager where the color didn't matter much. In any event, I didn't want to wait any longer so when they told me they could get their hands on a black one I decided to take it. There is no way I was going to order and suffer for 8 weeks like some of you.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

I had look and looked for the Blackberry for over a month in a 1200 mile radius and when a black one with all the options I wanted came up well there was no more searching for me.

It was instant love when I got to see it and still love it 3 weeks later. There is no way I could have sat for 8 to 12 weeks waiting and waiting. It would have killed me (well my girlfriend would have killed me).

The only issue I have with it is that I live in the desert and drive a about 6 miles each day on dirt roads and it does get dirty and takes the WOW factor away. I deal with it by getting the touchless car wash each time I fill up with gas. Just the water and no waxes as that will be my job on the weekends. Cost me a whole $2.00 when you fill up.

You will love the black... when the sun shines on it you will see why.

Enjoy

How funny! One of the reasons I didn't go for the Black was that my M5 is black and I didn't want two black vehicles - so I can relate. With that said, I can totally relate to what Tinkan says ... when a Brilliant Black JGC is clean and in the sunshine ... Wow!

We have an Infiniti G37S sedan that is black on black w/35% tint. And it has a fair amount of chrome so the Jeep will look similar (except for the saddle interior). The jeep windows will be darker.

Isn't the M5 generally monochromatic (minimal chrome)?

There's no chrome on an E28 M5, except the chrome kidney grill. The usual door-lining chrome from normal E28s was replaced with all black trim. It looks mean

(I have to add that although the "Schwarz" black paint on the M5 has always been good, the "Brilliant Black" on the JGC is way better)

The only model year was 1988 and there were only about 2500 made worldwide - maybe 1600 came to the states. At the time, it was the fastest 4-door sedan in the world.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition

Are they going to keep the Summit's around for 2012, or was it special for 2011?

Not sure, but there is a "Bucks Edition" coming out next year. I actually have a steering wheel for it. It has the black Ash burl wood and satin chrome bezel but the stitching is black instead of tan so the saddle interior is probably not going to be in it. However, this may be a package only for the diesel version coming out in the UK.
