Does anyone know the Summit saddle trim options? I was at my dealer and said I wanted saddle black. Apparently there are some free refinement choices. He couldn't explain it fully. Something with the stitching?

When actually placing the order into the system "Leather Trim Seats w/Edge Welting" has an option box to checkmark, but if it is not selected a message will pop up (at some point before completion of the order) requiring the box to be checked.

Just ordered my Summit Edition, V8, 4X4, Rugged Brown. MSRP $48255. Got it for $44690 with the Tread Lightly discount. I'm praying that it will have the 730N, since the Summit Edition is supposed to have it as standard equipment. Got the dealer to put a note on the order for the 730N just in case. Fingers are crossed.

Congrats pooch1005! Did they give you an expected delivery date?

I watched my dealer's screen as he configured the Summit for me today. It was clearly marked as the 430 Garmin Nav and he claimed he was unable to change it. Thus, I wouldn't deal.

#249 ·
No expected delivery date yet. The salesman said he couldn't find which media center was specified. If that's the case, hopefully I'll be able to add the 730N to the order before it's too late.

#250 ·
@ pooch1005 + joebinotto : you can order the summit today and have the dealer put in the notes to enter the 730n once it hits real production (again he used the term "D" status, not sure if that is a legit term but anyway). I think you should be fine. I'll keep you guys posted if my dealer waffles on this point, as we want to get what we order. Details matter here (from reading these posts).

I wasn't able to find the pricing anywhere online either. I ordered mine yesterday. The price from the order sheet for the Summit package is $4085. So you can add that to the base MSRP of the Overland plus whatever options you want and get pretty close to the price. I ordered Rugged Brown, V8, 4X4. MSRP is $48255. They didn't give me an estimated delivery date yet, but the salesman said at least 8 weeks. I'm thinking probably more.

Hello - new to this site.

I was at a dealer today in Florida and the salesperson printed out a sheet that shows ordering a Summit has a "restriction" on the 26R line....that the order can't be completed yet???

Here is what I want.....Summit 4x4 V8 in Mineral Gray with the latest tech which I understand to be 730N RHR. I don't want the engine block heater, the additional chrome (Summit comes with enough), ORAII (I want the 20" wheels which apparently are NOT "Trail Rated" according to the Jeep engineer in charge of that stuff), and Rear DVD (I want the large double sunroof so no Rear DVD). (I want the tow group option and that is standard with the 4WD Overlands including Summit.)

Questions:

(1) When will these be delivered if ordered soon (sales person speculated 10+ weeks)?

(2) Does 730N RHR also have Garmin like the 430N?

(3) I haven't signed up for tread lightly yet, but is it true you get hassle-free 1% below invoice AND will receive any incentives that pop up between now and delivery??? I'm a cash buyer (no leasing) and have continuously owned 6-7 Jeep Grand Cherokees since 1992 (and yet there is no loyalty discount...bummer).

Thanks for any information on this.

My alternative is to take delivery of a new currently "in transit" Overland 4x4 V8 black exterior with the dark/light frost beige interior and the Adaptive Cruise control et al option.

P.S. Trivia - Sales Option YG1 is "7.5 Additional Gallons of Gas" at FWP $21 and $0 MSRP.

answer to #1: You should expect to wait 2-3 months based on recent 4x4 Overland saddle/tech orders (as these are standard on summit).

answer to #2: Nope, uses Harmon technology with "dead reckoning" which means it also uses the hard drive to help calculate routes (in case you lose sat reception) and adds voice command for navigation controls (so you can find direction while driving). IMPO, I prefer the Garmin 430n unit.

answer to #3: My dealer accepted tread lightly with no hassle. 1% below invoice.

Also, the salesperson speculated (or said he had "heard") that the delay in Summits (and Overlands with saddle interior) was due to quality defects from the seat maker (and/or could have been the leather maker). He also went on to say that because of the large number of rejected seats, the sub-contractor seat maker (and/or leather maker) went bankrupt and so they were scrambling to get seats???

Thanks for the reply.

I don't know which would be preferable, the new 730N (RHR) or the available now 430N? For some reason I would think the Garmin interface would be superior. My 2005 JGC nav system is getting pretty long in the tooth...

Any thoughts on the new 730N (RHR) versus 430N? Should I wait for the new 730N (RHR)?

There has been a lot of discussion on this forum about the comparisons between the two. Most that don't have orders placed yet seem to be opting for the RHR. There are only 2 upgrades that I can see that the RHR has over the RHB, and they are 1) dead reckoning and 2) voice command for GPS.

Dead reckoning is a non-starter for me. Think about it, when and if you lose sat reception it would prob be for a very short period of time. Not enough of a reason to make me want want that feature. I haven't heard of anyone losing reception on the RHB yet either.

Voice command for GPS may be useful. But you can always buy a lockpick and bypass the fact that you can't enter directions while in motion. From my experience with the last generation of voice command and U-connect I found it to be very buggy and the need to keep repeating yourself into the mic becomes very annoying. For this reason I don't think voice command for GPS is a very big deal. Btw, I'm pretty sure the RHB has voice command for music selection.

Overall, the base features on the RHB are enough for me and the fact that Garmin has a really user friendly interface. It's also kind of cool to have a Garmin product integrated into Chrysler software.

My 2 cents....

I'll have to do a bit more research on the nav's.... My old 2005 JGC nav didn't allow in motion inputs but a more recent DVD update now allows it which is a huge improvement. Are you saying that the 430N Garmin system does NOT allow in motion input? That may be a deal breaker for me on the 430N.

My salesperson gave me a printout sheet on an order for a Summit 4x4 V6 that shows "restriction" for the 26R (Summit). Status shows as "Status: BA - Pending order". It was printed out two days ago according to the sheet.

The order includes the AWY Off-Road Adventure II at $275 MSRP and $245 FWP.

Here are the Summit 4x4 V6 pricings listed with the AWY option selected:

MSRP: $45,445
FWP: $42,640
HB: $1,340
FFP: $42,214
EP: $40,583

I don't know what the codes all are, but here is my guess (anybody that knows the exact words would be helpful):

MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price), FWP (Factory Wholesale Price), HB (Hold Back?), FFP (Friends & Family Price?), EP (Employee Price?).

10.7% discount to employees???....maybe they'll let me sweep the floors for a bit to get it! LOL

I went to a dealership today that told me on Monday they could order my Summit with the new 730. I asked the salesman several times and he assured me he could. Well, he was a huge LIER! Even though I knew better based on what has been written here & per Milous; I had some small hope he could do it. The dealership was 40 miles from my home and want this douchebag to reimburse me my gas money. I got up & walked out of his office when he said the Overland didn't come in rugged brown and he had no idea what the "Summit Edition" was (despite him answering my email with very specific specs that he could order the Summit in rugged brown, with the 730 & then later confirming it in a phone conversation)!

jmpdev2020 - I would think a Garmin based system would be superior? I know I was always a bit disappointed with my 2005 JGC's nav system and later updated the DVD to allow in motion inputs...I was really looking forward to the new tech in the 2011 JGC's which is a major selling feature for me so I want the best nav system... Should I insist on (or wait for) the 730N RHR???

Also, a dealer in my area is getting (in transit) an Overland 4x4 V8 with Advanced Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control option in black exterior and dark/light frost beige interior this week. I may just jump on that although the Summit 4x4 V8 in Mineral Gray would be better but probably 3 months away... The black Overland has the 430N so I'll need to decide if the 430N is acceptable................

I totally agree that the Garmin would be superior at least from a GPS/Navigation standpoint. I think a lot of people are hung up the fact that jeep is branding the RHR unit as a "premium" navigation unit. While it may indeed have the two upgrades that make it "premium" (dead reckoning and voice command while in motion) I think its totally subjective and really up to the user to decide which unit is more practical.

There are also a lot of little updates to the RHR, ie. software and user interface, that might be advantageous to some but all in all it doesn't seem to have much over the RHB. And like I said before, the Garmin interface should be slightly more user friendly as well as more practical in terms of being able to update GPS software more easily than the RHR. If you've ever had a Garmin handheld you'll know it's very easy to update software. Simply connect usb from your PC/Mac to unit and done. Not so sure it will be the same with RHR.

This link has some good info on the differences between the units:

12/19/10 - Don't see the RHR listed anywhere. New code guide was just issued, RHB is listed as standard for the Overland.

When you place an order for the Summit Edition (in which the RHR is standard), a "Premium Group Discount" shows up which gives a credit of -$305. That means the RHB is being supplied, and the credit will come off when the RHR becomes available.

The RHR also does not come up when trying to order a Limited.

Same for Canada.

Thanks again - This is applicable to a thread I started. I will wait to order.

Been a while last I came here. So now we know what the Overland Summer edition looks like and what it offers.

I find all fantastic except the Saddle upper dashboard which it looks like too much Saddle all over. Little disappointed.

Like some said that Saddle color could be too bright or little dark due to vary pictures seen online. It's preferable to see one in person just like I did with a 2011 Mustang which has a Saddle interior that looked brighter by pictures online but actually looked bit darker yet much better in person. So it might be the similar case, I suspect.

Here are three pictures I found online which I think it's most appropriate color looks below... (looks better but hope it does)...

if they had left it exactly the way it is except black upper dash, i think i'd really dig it, especially the wood color. Alas, they didn't

#278 ·
I would have left the dask black and left the wood trim a true wood color (cherry or whatever they use).
