2011 Grand Cherokee Overland Summit Edition... it's coming... sometime during the model year... stay tuned to JG for more details as they become available .
Cool (although I have no clue what a "Summit Edition" actually is)...
Hopefully, it is a "Top Edition" of the Overland and will also be be available for the later MYs (2012 and following) when I'm in the market to get one..
That was the first thing I thought of... the parts book still lists a number for front ELSD... but no further details are available (yet) on the "Summit" edition.

Forget Summit Edition....getting the 8 speed tranny is so much more important to get these dogs moving . I for one am waiting for the 8 speed before I drop my 40+K.
Any news as to why the 8-speed tranny is being put off for years? It's already being produced in Europe and gets rave reports.
Perhaps Fiat needs to ensure it is made in this country by UAW personnel? Even then, between now and then they could offer the Euro unit as an extra-cost option on, say, only the Overland so that overseas production would be able to keep up until US production is ramped up.
A lot of accessories that you would have to purchase from mopar, such as chrome or black tubular side step,or fog light bezel, mesh inserts etc, chrome or black 20 inch wheels, all based on your choice of preference, upon purchase.
Jeff if you go read the thread with the Jeep Engineers, they said the Jeep is better now then it would be with a front ELSD. It was extensively tested and it did better without the front ELSD with all of the electronics/bigger brakes etc.. As per the jeep engineer discussion we had earlier so it doesn't look like a front ELSD is in the works. No Quadra Drive II for the V6 either, thats been confirmed.
Yea I read that thread.... translation... "yes we know an LSD would be much better but for christ sake we are trying to get better gas mileage out of this heavy underpowered pig! We apologize to all those customers that purchased QD2 only to find out its no better in the snow than a WJ QT. But hey it will be plenty good for all the soccer moms and office dinks that never go offroad."
