Or just buy this month's Playboy, RELAX a bit, and get yet another third party review of the WK2 as an added bonus.

Most of us come here to read about and discuss Jeeps, not rice. If you have to post about how great your Toyota is, please do so in the Other Rides Off-Topic section:

IIRC, all Lexus models are made in Japan, with the exception of the RX350. So I'm not sure if they used U.S. sourced parts on the IS250 or not...

I tried to look it up, but I'm not sure if the IS250 uses a Denso pedal assembly (like all Toyotas that are made in Japan) or if they use the CTS pedal assembly that was the source of the recall.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee - reliability

Why are mechanically similar Lexus and Scion vehicles not involved in this recall?

The pedal involved in the recall is confined to one of Toyota’s suppliers. That supplier’s pedals are not used on Lexus and Scion vehicles.

Okay, it turns out that the gas pedal in the IS250 didn't have the recall that we're talking about. The IS250 had a pedal modification to ensure that the pedal couldn't get stuck on the floor mat under wide open throttle. It involved replacing the foot pad. The campaign also involved a reflash of the ECU that would cut engine power when the brakes are applied, providing an "extra" level of safety for Lexus owners.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee - reliability

MSCA - I noticed that same thing about the WK2 and the X5. The exterior style, except for the nose/grille, is very similar. The X5 appears to have been a substantial inspiration for the design of the WK2. The sales rep I rode with on my WK2 test drive actually kept commenting on how Jeep went with a more 'European' design, and it really hit me when I saw the X5 up close. Each has the indentation alongside the body, the slanted windows and forward angle, and the rears look very similar. The WK2 also has "soft-touch" leather and other new amenities in the interior. I just test-drove a used X5, and it's an amazing vehicle. Not sure about BMW's reliability, either, and I've heard the cost of repair and overall ownership is excessive. Anyway, it will be interesting to see what rebates and financing incentives Jeep/Ally provides once spring comes and the SUV-buying rush is over. That, plus the accumulation of data on the new model's gremlins, might make it worth the wait. We'll see, I guess.

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee - reliability

sorry...but my wifes gas pedal was completely replaced. Its a shorter length pedal arm.....nothing to do with the pad. There also was no ecu calibration. They also replaced the all weather floor mats

Re: 2011 Grand Cherokee - reliability

Is it safe to say the less option, the better reliability since it's less complex? Laredo base model is the most reliable one. I'm looking into Limited model but don't like leather seat!
