Ha, and I posted on that board weeks ago how many WK-owners were bashing the WK2 because they think it's not a "real" Jeep anymore. This is just too funny..

Oh, BTW, look at that:

What don't you like about the 2011 model or what do you think is missing?

HAHA thats funny. I totally skipped the WKI version because I thought it was the worse GC ever. It was poorly executed in my opinion, and didn't add anymore off road features than the WJ. The SRT8 was the best thing it had going. To each their own

To be fair I think you'll find that thread quite old, and many, many guys who didn't like it at first (a common trait with anything new) have now become fans of the WKII.

Exactly!

And I would bet my underpants that the same is going to happen on the Explorer-Forum.

I'm a member on both forums because I really like both vehicles. I always come to the rescue if anybody starts bashing the "opponent"..

Isn't this what bmwister did (by publishing his own, real world data) and you berated him saying the auto rag numbers were higher? I'm just an ignorant wk2 owner with a hemi in FL (and I don't tow), QL, and a first year model realize - all bad moves based on your comments in many other threads. But I gotta tell you (even though you didn't ask and don't care)... I am happy as a clam. Stupid me.

You are free to research on these forums and berate anyone you want. It's the advantage of an online forum. Good luck in your search.

Bmwister - please continue your value-added input to these forums. I, personally, really appreciate it.

I didn't berate him...but I did say his test methods aren't up to the standards of Motor Trend's instrumented testing.

I didn't argue that auto rag numbers were higher. I simply posted Motor Trend's numbers and said that they were in line with other publications that I've read. And I'm not the only person who said that.

Now if you want to debate the accuracy of his tests versus a major auto magazine's instrumented testing, I'll be more than happy to oblige. A random guy with his finger on a stopwatch while watching brake lights and a speed readout is simply not as accurate nor repeatable as instrumented testing performed by auto magazines. That's beyond silly and you know it. So does that other guy. That's an argument you will lose every time.

They hire some guy named Leo (who happens to have a really fast thumb and superior reflexes) to press a button on a stopwatch while watching brake lights and digital speed readouts. It's really quite fascinating.

May I suggest you wait until you possibly buy a JGC in 2012 and do your own tests with your instrument of choice BEFORE refuting mine?
I never once "refuted" your results. I just questioned the accuracy of your test methods. Where did I say a WK2 couldn't possibly run the times you claimed? Reading comprehension is your friend.

I can't wait to see what you say if I run a 1/4 mile this summer at one of the NHRA tracks and report results that might be better than what you read somewhere....
You just don't get it....I don't care what times you run. In fact, I'll get a chuckle out of the fact that you even bothered to put a Grand Cherokee on a drag strip in the first place. That might be interesting if you had an SRT GC, but a run-of-the-mill V8 Grand Cherokee at the strip? *yawn*

0-62 in under 6 seconds on a stock Hemi WK1?

I think something is wrong with your unit. (or you did the test downhill with the wind at your back )

Dismissing the accuracy of my methods ipso facto dismisses (refutes) my results. Since laser or radar is used to measure speed at professional race tracks you cannot criticize that so you then insinuate we were too fast on the timer. You criticize a mechanical engineer and cop but have yet to demonstrate what testing equipment/methods meet your definition of accurate.

You are correct; I "don't get" what your point is and notice that you have not responded to some simple queries about what methods YOUR sources (i.e. MT) used; you simply assume MT's (and others?) unspecified methods are better...because...why? You don't know yet you pontificate and add zero value to the thread.

...and now you may have the last word/paragraph.

I double checked the magazine last night. C&D reported for the Limited 4x4, it was a 18.6 gallon tank. Better than 15, but nowhere near 25.

Car and Driver Test Data Sheet for the Explorer

Ford themselves report the fuel capacity as 22.5, so something is off.

Now as for test methodology, Car and Driver uses a VBOX system, which is a GPS based data logger. They're way easier to use than the older 5th wheel type systems, but quite pricey.

Could there be two fuel tanks, a larger one for the 2x4 and smaller one for 4x4 (due to space)? I can't find a definitive answer either.
