Re: 2011 jeep GC steering wheel to big?

Good to know. I haven't heard any complaints so I'm assuming I will get use to it and enjoy the thicker steering wheel. How does the drivers assist package work?does it vibrate the steering wheel if u try to change lanes or get to close to a car in front of you? What kind of collision warning is there?

Re: 2011 jeep GC steering wheel to big?

It took me a few weeks before I didn't notice it anymore. I think it might be another remnant of the Daimler/Chrysler days because its girth is similar to the steering wheel in Mercedes'.

Either way, I prefer it over thinner wheels, and I'm sure you will too

Yeah - I'm even counting on getting used to the wood part of the wheel. When I test drove an Overland, the wood bothered me a bit. But so many posters have indicated that they've grown used to it and even love it ... I think I'll be fine.

It allows the heated steering wheel to have a larger area of contact with my hand, and transfer more heat, which I like on cold mornings.

I missed the finger nubs on the back side at first,(it seemed too smooth) but now I don't miss them, got used to it.

I like it better, too... feels like a BMW steering wheel.

I like the wood, but after two weeks I haven't gotten used to the leather part of the wheel. I feel like I have a good grip on the wood (it has some finger indents in it plus the wood itself grips to the skin), but the leather part has no indents and is extremely smooth. When driving straight I don't notice it, but when turning I have to grip much harder on the leather than the wood or it feels like the wheel may slip in my hands. Has anyone else noticed this?

Re: 2011 jeep GC steering wheel to big?

I am liking the steering wheel on my 4th day of driving it. But one complaint. It blocks the speedometer between 40-140 miles. So I really never know my speed (at a glance). My solution was to programmed the EVIC to show the digital speed, which I kind of like better.

Re: 2011 jeep GC steering wheel to big?

I like the feel of the thicker steering wheel but I have to say that my hands get tired on long drives. Almost to the point of feeling like I'll get cramps. I generally use only 1 hand on the wheel when I'm driving for any distance. I switch back and forth more often because my hands tend to get tired quickly when holding with only 1 hand.

Also, I have to agree that the placement of the buttons aren't great when parking. Especially when backing up. I've hit the U-Connect button too many times to count. I did comment on this on their survey. (By the way, I am 6' tall myself so I don't have small hands.)

The heated steering wheel is more useful than I ever thought. I never realized that I was suffering all of these years during the sub-30's weather. My hands warm up nicely now and I can't imagine living without the heat.
