2011 Laredo X - V6 - engine issue

Hey guys, well I finally got hit with my 1st major issue at 73k miles. Truck has been flawless until this issue. So as I was trying to merge onto the freeway, as I depressed the gas pedal halfway, RPM went up to 3500 and then check engine light started flashing and car cut off power. It wouldn't go past 30mph. After 5 minutes of driving in limp mode, everything went back to normal. When I punched it again, same thing happened. Long story short, it's at the dealer (which I don't trust or like but didn't have much option since it was the closest to my house). On the way to the dealer, I stopped at pepboys to pull the code and they told me it was misfiring cylinder 4.

From what I've read, it can be a very expensive fix and I'm also out of warranty. Soooooo would it be wise to fix it or just trade it in and let it be someone else's problem? Paying for the fix is not the problem, problem is if engine problem keeps surfacing then this vehicle would be unsafe and unreliable for wife and daughter. My wife uses this truck a lot and travels with our 8month old. I'd rather be headache free than take chances.

Give me your feedback guys.

I'm eagerly waiting to hear from the dealer as to what the damage is.

Wow that's major. Is that a TSB or pay out of pocket deal? I'm leaning towards dumping the car more so now than ever because of my dealer service department experience. I called them for an update and they told me they don't know where my car is and I must have picked it up already. WTF!! I'm leaving work to go to the dealer and sort this BS.

Re: 2011 Laredo X - V6 - engine issue

Ok guys finally found the car and it's pretty much what the link says above. Cylinder may be cracked or bent and it's roughly $3,000 repair. Jeep is saying I pay first and then see if Chrysler will repay me. They don't want to deal with Chrysler directly. FML.

I'd call the hq of jeep, I got something in the mail for my 2012 about a 10 year, 150,000 mile warranty for one of my headers. Yours being a year prior, should have the same thing.
Probably, the same thing as that link above.

That dealer is full of shit. Got the letter on mine. It is covered under warranty, thus you should not pay the dealer upfront. See the attached TSB.

Re: 2011 Laredo X - V6 - engine issue

Thanks for the info and attachment. I appreciate all the help guys. I will be taking it to a different dealer when I get a chance. For those who knows Long Island (it's Atlantic Chrysler dodge and jeep in west islip). I called another dealer and their response was "yeah since you didn't buy the car from us we will try to fight for you but it may take weeks". Bottom line is, yeah **** off. That's what I'm getting from these dealers. Talk about customer care. I hope the next dealer even gives me a chance to show them the TSB. It's so tiring and sickening to deal with such poor quality dealers.

Re: 2011 Laredo X - V6 - engine issue

So I had a local shop run all the codes again (paid $90 diagnostic fee) and received a print out. Code P0304 popped up, which is covered by the TSB that you fellas attached earlier. I will be drafting a letter to Chrysler regarding their dealers refusing service under TSB AND will be using this as leverage when I go to the next and last dealer. After that I have no idea what to do but I refuse to pay $3k for repairs. I would rather trade vehicle and happily pay negative equity and go into a newer vehicle, that's how disgusted I am with these Chrysler dealers. Anyway, i'll keep you guys up to date.

Re: 2011 Laredo X - V6 - engine issue

Traded the wk2 for a highlander. Thank you for all the help fellas. I appreciate your support and guidance. You fellas are the only reason I had whatever confidence was left when I got behind the jeep's wheel.

Wife and I are both super disappointed with the jeep dealers in nyc. More importantly made several calls to Chrysler and all I got was someone with call you back. That was 3 days ago. Called 5 times after that and got the same thing. Anyway called my toyota guy and he helped me dump this and get into a 14 highlander LE AWD. Now my wife and daughter can safely travel unless god has other plans.

Good luck with everything boys and remember it's not the product, it's the customer care that keeps bringing customers back. FU*K Chrysler.
