Re: 2011 Overland - what color?

Hello all,

I just registered on these forums here today! Looks to be a great site, informative and friendly people.

I recently put a down payment on a 2011 JGC Overland in Mineral Gray, and was told by the salesman that the car may be as far as 60 days out, but could possibly come sooner. Does that seem like a possibility that it could come sooner, or am I in for the long haul?

He also said it will possibly be the first Overland in Mineral Gray in the state of Oregon, interesting if it is true, but somehow I doubt it.

I really wanted my Jeep immediately but I guess it's worth the wait for Quadra-Lift and the Mineral Gray..

It has been published on this web site that the Mineral Gray Color will not be available to order until October 1st, and my dealer told me that he was told by his sales rep that it would not be available for several months. If you have in fact placed an order and got a valid VON number it will be the first I have heard that it was possible now.

The salesman told me that they have an allocation for a Mineral Gray car that was currently in the process of being painted, but had yet to receive a VIN number. He also told me that it would be a maximum wait of 60 days, no more, and possibly less; and if within that time period another Overland with the same specs and paint showed up elsewhere in the dealership network (and a vast network it is) that he could have that car sent in to the dealership.

I think your dealer may be stretching the truth a little bit. I doubt other dealers would be willing to give up an overland since they are so hard to come by.

What he told me was that since I have this order placed in their dealership network, if a car arrives with the exact specs of the one I put a down payment on, the other dealership will have no choice but to send it my way. He said that's how Lithia's dealership network works, that the other dealership would have no say in the matter.

I just really hope I don't have to wait until October to get my Jeep, I came in ready to pay cash for the car and drive it off the lot on the same day, however I wanted the car in Mineral Gray. The salesman told me that they have an allocation for a Mineral Gray, but that it was still being built and hadn't even been assigned a VIN yet. He then told me 60 days or less. I really hope it is, the car is amazing, well built and drives like a dream. Is there any chance that I won't have to wait until October??

If there is no VIN, its not even close to being built. It could be in the system with a Vehicle Order Number, However has a few steps and some wait to get to gateline which is D1 when its sequenced to be built. Also as others have mentioned Mineral Grey shouldn't be available.. You should PM Milous, a member here with many resources and ask about the mineral grey situation. Technically if Mineral Grey becomes available Oct 1st.. The car could be roughly 60 days out.. its almost Sept already...

Yeah, if there's no VIN, it is most certainly not "being built." The order is in the system, but the order has not yet been linked to an actual vehicle, which itself is usually a few weeks before that vehicle gets assembled.

Now, it might well be one of the first Overlands in that color to be built, but you're still looking at a decent wait.

Damn. I could care less if it's first or not, I just want the car now. Woe is me.

Re: 2011 Overland - what color?

I noticed on Jeep.com that Mineral Gray is no longer listed as 'Late Availability'.

Hooray?
