2011 Rear hatch chrome trim loose...

Hey all...happy Easter...

Something weird on my 2011...the rear chrome trim has come loose, more on the drivers side but also on the passenger side. No dents or anything in the hatch, very strange. it does not press back in or pop back in...its just popped out like this randomly sometime between today and the last time it was washed.

I know some of you have removed the rear trim to paint it, etc. Any tips on how its attached so I can pop this back in? Pics attached...

Re: 2011 Rear hatch chrome trim loose...

It's attached with some bolts on the inside of the hatch. You need to remove the trim panel. Check out page 56 of the following PDF document: http://wk2jeeps.com/interior/2011_wk...moval_001E.pdf

Poor design. Mine came loose too, on the lower edges on each side. Replaced with Brilliant Black trim piece and it's starting to do the same. It's a pain to get that interior trim panel off to get to the bolts. Two bolts, one on each side.

Re: 2011 Rear hatch chrome trim loose...

just pull the chrome the rest of the way off and replace the 3m tape on the back side....youll see what I mean. No need to replace it or completely remove it.

What happened in your situation, had the bolts just come loose?

Its not the chrome, its the whole assembly, including the black plastic underneath that houses the license plate lights/liftgate button...

Bolts had just come loose. When I tightened the bolts more and more it tightens the piece into place.

This design is really like Toyota Highland, I don't like it!

Seeing that this rear hatch design came out on the Jeep in 2010, and the Highlander in 2014...I'd say the Highlander is like the Jeep, not the other way around.
