That's what concerns me, since I'm obviously not going to take delivery on a factory order vehicle in '10. If the affiliate program generates some type of guaranteed subsidy for the dealer, then I can see how they'd insist on having a valid code. I'm going to ask the dealer about this before I move ahead.

My dealer is requesting a $500 deposit to place an order, but they hold my check w/o cashing it until I take delivery. Another dealer I spoke with said that they would cash my check immediately, and even though it was fully refundable if I chose not to take delivery, it would take 20 days to process the refund. No thanks.

I will try to contact TreadLightly directly to see if they expect the affiliate program to continue in 2011.

Re: 2011 WK2 Prices Paid

I followed up with the Chrysler Affiliates department and had a couple of good conversations with those folks. I also got an email reply from TreadLightly.org. Here's what I learned:

1. The Chrysler folks I spoke with were not able to definitively confirm that the affiliate relationship w/TL.org would carry over into 2011. However, they seemed reasonably confident that it would given that they had just added a slew of 2011 models to the list of eligible vehicles in the middle of 2010 and it would just make sense to continue those incentives. They said that they would know (my translation: be able to divulge) this for certain in the new year.

2. New learning: You must be a member of an affiliate organization for at least 30 days before you are eligible for preferred pricing. This was news to me, and it means that I'll be cooling my heels until early January before I can move ahead with my order (my TL.org membership packet doesn't mail until this Friday 12/10/10). That said, the Chrysler incentives guy I spoke with just now said that it was worth discussing this with my local dealer. They might be motivated to get the order process started before a control number could be obtained.

3. The email reply I got from the Member Services Manager at TreadLightly.org stated: "I have spoken with our representative at Chrysler and this is an ongoing program so you will not have any problems going into 2011."

So, worst case scenario is that I need to give JNAP another 4 weeks or so to get a handle on the Overland/Mineral Gray/Saddle/730n production situation before my order enters the pipeline. Not a terrible outcome in exchange for getting 1% under invoice pricing, plus whatever new incentives might be rolled out on Jan 3...Gives me time to pre-order those nice chrome finish fog light inserts I saw on wjs81866's ride!

Don't forget military or police discount ($500 per) if it applies to you.

Update: Re the TreadLightly.org preferred pricing-- my local dealer confirmed that he is willing to place my order now just as long as I have my control number at the time of purchase. This, along with the soft assurance from Chrysler and TL.org that the program will continue into 2011 means that there's no longer any reason to delay my Overland order. Can't say that all dealers will a) honor TL.org member pricing or b) allow a custom order with that pricing before a control number is in hand, but it's worth a conversation. Still debating whether it makes sense to hold tight till the 730n RHR's start flowing...

cperez,

With as long as orders are taking to be built, by the time your order comes up for production the RHR might already be the standard radio.

Excellent point. I considered that but was hoping to improve my odds and not leave anything to chance. My trusty '04 WJ Limited only has 76K miles on it and is still running strong. My daughter (who I bought it for) doesn't get her full license till next spring, so any urgency to buy is strictly self-imposed. But, that urgency has also been amped up considerably since I started hanging out on this forum. I am topped off with WK2 Kool-Aid at this point!
