What do you think is reasonable to get them down too. I've got a strict budget of 35,500. Is that reasonable to get them down to that. Theres currently 2,000 in factory rebates if that helps at all.

By using truecar.com I got this exact car (2012) and paid $34,700

twforrer - I assumed that you're talking about a 2011, found only $1,000 of incentives and used a Connecticut Zip Code (which could impact the amount of the Destination Fee), but here's the American Express Auto Purchasing Program pricing for that Jeep:

With an additional $1000 of incentives, the price would drop to $35,900. Would that be close enough for you?

I thought everyone got 3% holdback, even on a custom order - which is where i thought you could really ask for it, since they are obviously not going to have it sit around on the lot.

Just heard back from a salesman I've been talking to that "we do not receive the 3% holdback. That money goes to floor plan it is not a profit that the dealership receives." She was told this by her manager. Sounds BS-y to me.

Thougths?

It is BS, they typically exclude it from the Salesman's commission though. It is profit for them and if they want to sell you a car, they will talk. Remember the end of the year is right around the corner and delearships will be trying to hit their numbers.

Put together a proposal and "shotgun" it out to several delears and go from there.

2011 White Limited
730N

Sticker $40,500
Paid $32,750 + Tax/Reg/Etc.

Check out www.fightingchance.com - It is well worth the $39 to see what the dealer really pays and what the hidden givebacks are. Helped me get a killer deal as far as I'm concerned!

brand new and 4wd? if so, you got yourself a great deal. i ended up about the same with my overland ($8k off msrp).

Alright, need some help here. Time to part with the '01 Cherokee and go with something nicer. I'm looking at '12 GC Laredos, I really, REALLY dont want to go over 30 grand, but I digress. I'm in VA, and a few dealers here have what I think to be good deals going on. V6, QTII, moonroof, hitch, power seats and a few other extras for around 31-33,500. Sticker on them is closer to 40. Realistically, am I going to get OTD for anything under 30?

Hi all,

Picked up my 2012 Overland last week. Brilliant Black, Hemi, ORA II, Saddle Interior.

Sticker $47285
Paid (before TTL): $40,340

I used Zag (through Amex) as a starting point, talked to a handful of dealers (internet sales only), agreed on a price before mfr rebates, and then added on the Chrysler incentives that were applicable to me (customer cash, lease conquest). Took a little leg work, but not too much and the price was great.

Bought at Riverdale Chrysler Jeep in the Bronx -- not the prettiest looking dealership, but the folks there were great. In fact, they were the only ones in my area who were straight shooters and didn't try to spin a tale about their cost, etc.

Hope this helps someone. This forum has helped me a great deal during my research leading up to the purchase!

24k brand new is pretty good as long as you dont need 4wd. We bought a rwd laredo-x with sunroof and nav for 31k and i thought it was good deal. I have no need for 4wd, but i just liked the jeep so much compared to other family haulers we were looking at.

As long as 4wd is not a priority, i think its a great deal.

I wound up paying about 33,500 OTD. '12 Laredo, V6, moonroof, hitch, security and convenience and ORA I. I wasn't buying one without QT-II. More than i wanted to spend and i probably could have fought more, but i got the car i wanted. Now if only it'd hurry up and get here and then snow!

Hello all my first post, I have been roaming the forum for a little while now and I'm posting because I definitely need some help. I currently have a 2006 Nissan maxima which I owe about 10,300. Today the dealer offered me 8,000 for the car and the additional would be added to my monthly payment. It is a 2011 limited with 8,000 miles on it blueberry pearl v8 20"inch rims. It's beautiful. With around 7,000 down the dealer said he may be able to get me an estimated $535 a month finance plan. I put down a $500 deposit down and will be in contact with the dealership. Please anyone with any tips or information I would appreciate it alot is it a good deal or should I keep browsing or get my deposit back ?

go onto kbb.com and find out what the trade in value is for your car depending on mileage, condition and options. that is the first thing to do.

second - don't negotiate from a position of monthly payments. that's a great way to get taken advantage of. negotiate on the price of the Jeep itself, not what you want to pay a month. go onto edmunds.com or kbb.com and figure out what the suggested retail would be for the JGC that you are looking at. then subtract the kelly blue book value for your maxima (you may not be able to get this) and whatever you decide to put down on it as well as anything left over from your loan.

then go to bankrate.com and use the calculate under auto (the last one in the list) to figure out if you can afford the monthly payments. you need to have an idea what your credit score is so that you know what rate you would be offered.

if you end up being upside down in your car and there is nothing wrong with it, might be better to wait a year or two . . .

Picked mine up Yesterday. Surprisingly it was ordered around Nov 21 and arrived at the dealership from Jeep around Dec 21.

My package:

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland
5.7L V8
Off-Road Adventure II Package
Advanced Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control
Command View Dual-Pane Panoramic Sunroof

Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat Exterior Paint
Black Interior Color

Basically everything except the chrome package..

MSRP $48,305 (total including all tax, title, doc. fees, etc.) $50,190.50

Total price paid out the door $44,778.50 through TrueCar.

Quick question....Dealer has the following sitting on their lot:

2011 GC Limited - Stone White
5.7L and 730N Media Center Options
$42,240 MSRP

Through USAA Car Buying service I can get the exact same car as a 2012 Model year for a USAA Member price of $36,856.

What is a resasonable discount on the 2011? $2K less than the '12 price? Anything?

#338 ·
Intuition would tell you yes, but in my research of buying... It's actually not much of a difference! I got a better price on a 12 than any other 11's on lots in 2 surrounding states, through USAA. I haggled with the dealer to get better than usaa's price, and then they ordered it, started off using auto circle from usaa to find out which dealers wanted to work with me.
