2011 WK2 "software updates"

Hello all,

First of all, this is my first jeep and super excited. 2011 laredo base QT1, starting slow (maybe when I grow out of this will upgrade). I was a little nervous about QT1 but now am happy with my decision, especially with the price I paid for a certified used low mileage version. Happy with the pentastar!

I brought it into the local dealership for maintenance and a look over. They did several "software updates", the first since it was made. I feel like it has more pick-up now and is not shifting as early. Anyone have any experience what these updates are? Probably just the radio and its wishful thinking, but the drive feels like transmission shifting has changed from the better.

Thoughts?

The Pentastar drivetrain definitely was improved by several TSBs over the first model year. Sounds like your 2011 needed them (mine sure benefited), and your dealer was diligent about applying them. Have fun!

Here's a full list of the TSBs:

Thanks! It looks like TSB 18-035-11 would have the effects I am noticing. I am also glad they updated the stability control software.

The problem with buying a new WK.... is now I want to outfit it with new tires!

Thanks again.

Absolutely on the tire replacement. The 18" Latitudes that came with ORGII on mine are one of Jeep's big mistakes IMHO.

You're good on updates.
People on this forum are all over the place on tires. I swapped out for Michelin LTX M/S 2's which are popular here. They are not A/T's, but a more aggressive tread and stonger sidewall truck/SUV tire. A popular A/T here is GY Silent Armor. Congrats and have fun!

Re: 2011 WK2 "software updates"

Yup, the Latitudes are bad tires for a Jeep vehicle; especially for one that has the offroad package, like I got on mine.

I'm hoping to get by at least a year on the factory tires and will definitely buy on a new set before next winter. Of course that's all dependent on this Winter's weather continuing to be unusually mild, and me not feeling the urge to go too off road this Summer.

Re: 2011 WK2 "software updates"

Yea, I will probably wait for a while as well. Was thinking Cooper discovery A/T3s, but will look again.

Anyway, I'm loving the jeep!! Maybe expecting snow in Seattle this weekend, feel way more prepared than with my 2wd mazda 3!!

Thanks everyone.
