2012 Altitude Edition

So I went in to order a 2012 Altitude edition at my local dealer today. Unfortunately I was told that they had closed ordering on the 2012 and would have to order a 2013. Can anyone confirm this as accurate? I was okay with waiting 6 to 8 weeks, but I am not sure about waiting the 12 to 16 weeks they said it would take to get a 2013 in. Any thoughts from anyone. Thanks.

Re: 2012 Altitude Edition

From info found on this site, that should be correct. Order banks for 2012 closed mid April and order banks for 2013 open in June.

Are they making a 2013 Altitude?

Re: 2012 Altitude Edition

I am awaiting the arrivals of the Altitudes as well. I did not order one either but my local dealer says he has a handful coming towards the end of the month that aren't spoken for. Not sure if he's pulling my chain but I'm going to wait and see! I'll grab a Loaded Laredo X if they turn out to all be spoken for. Anyone heard any delivery dates?

Re: 2012 Altitude Edition

Delivery Dates for the Altitude will be slightly different for every dealer that ordered one or more. Jeep says they will arrive in May sometime.

If he has them coming in and you want one you should be able to put a deposit on one to assure that you get it.

Re: 2012 Altitude Edition

I stopped by one dealer over the weekend and test drove a regular Laredo X with a V8 - definitely want that over the V6 now!

I asked about the Altitudes and they're getting 4 or 5 of them in within the next two weeks. All V6's though

Now I think I want a Limited with the auto-dimming side view mirrors and ventilated leather seats... but I don't think the Altitude package is available on the Limiteds. Drats!

So you're not suprised... on the 2012 Grand Cherokee Limited, only the driver side mirror is auto-dim standard. If you add the Adaptive Cruise package you get the passenger auto dim mirror. Lame. Overland has both side mirrors auto-dim standard even without the Adaptive Cruise though.

Thanks for the heads up. I keep flipping back and forth. As of now, I don't really NEED this feature anyway, just like I don't need the panoramic sunroof or the HIDs. If I see an Altitude in person and find a V8 version, I'll probably just put the $2K savings over the Limited to something else.

Re: 2012 Altitude Edition

Yeah it made me kinda sad that they are basing the Altitude on the Laredo X rather than the limited or even the overland. Now I am gonna have to figure out how to get those vented seats and HID headlights on my Altitude if I can track one down.

It's probably easiest and cheapest to actually get a Limited, then have a body shop paint all the chrome parts black. And then spring for some aftermarket wheels I guess.
