Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Great site!

Will there be any minor design tweaks on the front of the vehicle? (Molding, chrome, minor body enhancements) Back of the vehicle? From what I am reading so far there will be no real sheet metal adjustments or minor fabrication changes to plastic trim pieces (2nd year of body style) . The change this year is the re-gearing of the transmission. This question is prefaced on any tooling & die changes that may potentially be done at Jefferson North after a year of seeing how the 2011s came out and reading feedback from Tech service bulletins.

(BTW, I have already looked at much of the forum, the WKJeeps site, and references to the 2012 SRT8 model for previous answers.... if anyone is asking.)

My current jeep is a 1998 V8 5.9 and I am finally ready to move on, though I will miss my ARB bumper and winch!

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

New 20-inch Polished Aluminum Wheels (WRJ) optionally available on Overland (replaces Chrome Clad option),
- (design is identical to the standard 20-inch Premium Wheels, but with a rich polished finish (late availability)

This confuses me. Is this basically saying the Summit wheels will be available eventually on regular Overland's? Also not sure why it says anything about chrome clad since that hasn't been an option on since 2010.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I am emailing with a dealership and asking about pricing he said his sales manager said he would sell me a 2012 at invoice.. All I did was ask about pricing and ordering. Any red flags here? Heres what was said..

Let me know what you would want in your Grand Cherokee at this point, and I can give you a pretty close estimate of what it would be at this point. We have just recently received preliminary pricing for our 2012 models, and I spoke with (name), who you were initially speaking with who is now our sales manager. He said that we would sell the factory order to you at invoice (whatever that may be), so I can let you know what that is at least at this point. Hope to hear from you soon!

Seems too easy? And sounds like they would haggle from there...

I guess it would depend on anticipated supply and demand, along with what the manufacturer is giving the dealership to push them. It could make business sense for them if they have a guaranteed sale and don't need to float any cash/risk while holding a car in inventory. They are probably hoping to make money on holdback, incentives, and/or financing. Why not make a few bucks at very low risk? They are obviously finding profit on the 2011s while selling below invoice (through affiliate pricing, zag.com, negotiation, etc.). So, while it is surprising that they might leave potential money on the table by offering invoice pricing on a brand new model year right off the bat, they may just be looking to move units.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Don Jackson Jeep in Atlanta called me a few minutes ago.
Starting today they are accepting orders for 2012 Models.
Earlier they told me they would accept 1 % below invoice for 2012 orders.
When pricing becomes available, will order:
2012 JGC Overland
Silver, black interior
Off road Adventure 2
730 RHR radio
Engine block heater
Hemi
At the moment, cannot think of any other options.
Dave

I think 730 RHR radio is standard on Overland in 2012.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

LOL

Yes, it is hot in Atlanta now !!!!!!!

The dealer said he would have to order a Jeep to get the engine block heater!!!

For work I do travel the US. Hence the need.

Although rare, have seen -40 to -50. Strange things happen at those temps. The driver's door was slammed on one new 4x4 Ford Pickup. The paint fell off as a sheet.
