Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Thanks. Sure enough, looks like the red on the prototype SRT8 pictured all over the net.

I had an '86 RX-7 that looked identical to this red color. Not sure it's a good color for an SUV though.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

My auburn haired wife, who has a serious thing about red, was okay with the 2011 offering. Likely she will be less enthusiastic about the less-bold 2012 variation, but in the end she'll probably find it acceptable.

The '200 tip was most useful. There are red 200s aplenty at nearby dealers, so now we can look it over in real daylight. Then, hopefully, get in our 2012 WK2 order next month when the pricing and option rosters are finalized.

And high time, too. Our '94 Limited is in exceptional shape and we love it, but enough already.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Any ideas as to when the web site will start showing 2012 models? I went there last night and the only option to "build your own" was for 2011 models.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I looked at a 200, 300, RAM, Patriot, and Wrangler on the lot today, all in the deep cherry red crystal pearl. In a few angles I can see a tinge of the pink color but I like the deep color it turns in the shadows. Overall it's down to the black or the red for me and I'm pretty sure I like the red better (personal preference). Normally I'd wait, but my BMW 335 lease is up in September...

I tried to order a 2012 in the red today and the dealer showed me the order screen where the red (along with the true blue) were on the list but not available for him to select. He also did not have options for adding the adaptive cruise control package (ADG I believe). He said it may not be available in San Diego yet but that doesn't sound right. He's going to check with Chrysler in the morning. Anyone else have luck ordering the 2012 in

Very strange, I just checked the order system and Red is available. Only True Blue was blocked.

Yeah, they're not going to switch over until dealers have them on the lots. Otherwise, the dealerships would have a fit over Jeep pushing a new model year when dealerships are still trying to unload their old inventory. My guess is late August or September.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Well after seeing the nag message at the top begging me to post a first message rather than stalk, here we go... First, I'd like to say thank you to all that provide the information for this site and the other jeep sites we all use. The forum is so lucky to have people like Milous posting messages. Jeep should allow more folks like this out in web world to inform customers and help the brand. A little extra money in their paycheck wouldn't hurt either based on the time they spend on here.

We're switching from a 2004 Envoy to a new 2012 Overland which we ordered within hrs after the dealer had allocation. We got the VIN number a few days ago and it's already in D status so things are moving along good I guess for the next model year. The POC paper does seem a bit fishy having a C in the second position now rather than the J. 1C4RJ is what they start with now I guess? My wife works at the dealership and the only cars with C are the Chrysler 200 and other similar products. The rest of the paper has the correct info, so hopefully we won't be getting a 200 in a couple months.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Did anyone find out any info on the new Winter Chill color?

I am really curious if it's like a pearl white color. I was planning on ordering mine in Stone white, but Winter Chill sounds interesting

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

For the people who have already ordered, how did you determine price???
Do you think you got a good price? If so, why?

The winter chill paint does sound interesting. My guess is that it is a silver with very light blue. If correct, it is a beautiful color. Have seen a couple of vehicles with silver along with very light or pale blue. Looked sharp.
However, do not want to wait that long.

You can negotiate price relative to invoice.

If you have an American Express card, go to http://amexnetwork.zag.com/main.html

Dealers around me are offering pre-negotiated prices of $750-$1500 below invoice (plus a dealership fee of between $80-390, which is laid out up front) for the 2011 Overland, and many are offering the same deal on the 2012 model. Amex isn't the only firm to partner with zag.com - I think a subscription to the special car buying section of consumer reports online also comes with access. I'm sure there are more affiliates.
