Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

It is particularly annoying that 'official' information is so lacking from Chrysler.

I am considering getting a 2012 Grand Cherokee Summit, but I can't get any definitive information from my dealer with regards to the final choices of color, accessories etc.

Similar features and options as 2011 models
New: 6-speed automatic transmission (5.7L models)
New: Chrome tow hooks (late availability)

In other words, Quidnunc, not much has changed for the Summit package.

Milous, The build your own link doesen't show the True Blue colour on the main page but it shows up on the summary page for some reason. Do you know when this colour will start to be availiable? Thanks.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Looks like the ability to lower the front windows with the fob has been removed for 2012. I am unable to do it and the appropriate paragraph in the manual has been removed. I thought that was a good feature and am somewhat disappointed.

Soon - early September 2011 per http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_2012_features.htm - I thought I saw 9/6 as the date at some point, but that could have changed (or I could be wrong).

If you go to the 2012 Build My Own posted above (as you have) I think that's True Blue on the very first page before you pick a model. I hope it's not too purple-y.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Me too. I tried to order a 2012 in True Blue last week but the colour is not even showing up on the dealers screen. I decided to just wait for them to become availiable on the lots as there are currently no discounts or lower financing deals being offered. Still though I'm getting pretty antsy and the waiting is killing me.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

When I go to build a 2012 Overland it gives me the Trailer Tow group option. I thought that was included in the base price? When the new colors like Maximum Steel and Winter Chill show up to be ordered?

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

During a model's first year manufacturers tend to load it up with stuff and see how they fly. Second year, it's SOP in Detroit to decontent, removing various small items folks apparently didn't much notice the first year -- or at least making them optional instead of standard. Ten dollars here, 75 dollars there, it makes a real difference in the corporate bottom line.

Resale value aside, a very late 2011 is probably a better deal than an early 2012. You get year-end deals, plus a handful of extra goodies.
