Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I wonder if the fob controlled windows feature was conflicting somehow with the security system and causing all the false alarms. So far I haven't experienced any, but it's only been 5 days.

2012 Grand Cherokee - Build Your Own
Question for Milous

The steering wheel, along with the other wood trim areas, in the '11 Overland Summit was black olive ash, but the photos that I've seen of the '12 Overland Summit show a brown wood steering wheel. Was the interior wood changed for '12 or is the change only limited to the color of the steering wheel (I'm hoping you say that everything will still be black olive ash)?

Resale value aside, a very late 2011 is probably a better deal than an early 2012. You get year-end deals, plus a handful of extra goodies.
How do you tell if the car is a very late 2011?

Flashy,

What's the VIN on the vehicle you're wondering about? Let me know.

There is a way, and folks here can elaborate because I forget the specifics. But even assuming that some dealers may have the occasional 2011 that's been sitting around for months, post-manufacturer TSBs can bring it fully up to date.

That said [hypocrisy alert!], we are finally nailing down the purchase of a 2012 Overland, after reluctantly deciding against an SRT.

The build date is on the sticker of the driver's door.

Re: 2012 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

If you go to the "Models" tab on the official 2012 GC page they have the Overland and Overland Summit prices backwards....I almost had a heart attack when I saw the Overland 4*2 MSRP at $43,095!

Flashy,

That vehicle was built on April 30th and delivered to the dealer (Cross Motors, Louisville, KY) on June 23rd.

Thanks so much....is that considered a late build or should I try to find one built later?

Flashy,

You can find later but April 30th isn't bad. The one I'm picking up was built on June 22nd to give you an idea on how late some were built. Mine was definitely among the last batch of 2011s. But it depends on what colors/options you want and how hard they are to find. May 2nd, was the date that the base price increased on the Grand Cherokees from $41,910 to $42,295 and the destination charge increased from $780 to $825. That Jeep would cost you $430 less (plus the sales tax and interest on that $430). Search the w2kjeep website for the applicable TSB (Technical Service Bulletins) for your vehicle and just make sure the dealer applies any that apply to your vehicle.
