Oh, I'm not worried about the MPG's (i own a Jeep). I was just amazed that some how dealers around the country are posting these numbers...many dealers. They must be getting these numbers from somewhere.

Thanks for all the replies,
Al

reply back from a dealership:

The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee you inquired about is still available and ready for delivery. I did go to verify the mpg on the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The numbers are 13 city and 20 highway, depending on how you driving habits it could be better. I do apologize for the error on the website. We should have actual pictures on the website soon. When are you available to come by and look and test drive the new Jeep? Please respond by email or phone call. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Re: 2012 Hemi MPG (16/22)?

I just delivery of a 2012 Hemi (4x2) and the sticker said 14/20 MPG. I just took an overnight trip to Temecula wine country and averaged 20.5 with mostly highway, which is better than I expected.

Re: 2012 Hemi MPG (16/22)?

I have purchased 2012 limited 4x4 with 5.7 about 7 days ago. I have 230 miles on it (still virgin) and have averaged 15.7 per the evic computer. i reset the vehicle evic when i drove it off of the lot. I drive about 10 miles each way to work every day through traffic stop and go, mostly 50 mph average speed. I purchased with 10 miles on odometer.

I am happy with 5.7 mpg, it is almost as good as my 2000 dakota 4.7

Re: 2012 Hemi MPG (16/22)?

Just got back from a 300 miles highway trip. I kept the speed constant @ 75 MPH. EVIC shows 11.7 L/100 KM. This calculates out to a little over 21 MPG (US gallon) and 24 MPG (Imperial gallon). I'm happy with that.

Cool Re: 2012 Hemi MPG (16/22)?

I just hit 3000 miles in my 2012 4x4 Overland 5.7. It's been getting between 14.5 and 15.5 in city driving. Taking it on it's first road trip the end of the month. Will post mileage after returning home. Link of trip follows.

Don't trust the EVIC numbers, they are usually 1 to 3 mpg high compared to calculating it yourself.

Re: 2012 Hemi MPG (16/22)?

Depends on purpose. I once won a fuel economy rally with a dump truck (was based on fuel/ton-mile). Next time someone else showed up with a cement mixer and the the rules were changed.

To see tales of woe, look on the Enclave/Acadia forums. Really the Hemi mpg is only poor when compared to the Pentastar or things weighing less than 4,000 lbs.

Really Chrysler has gone about as far as possible with an iron block pushrod design (could name some kludges that were needed to get this far). VVT is really Variable Camshaft Timing, independant VVTi and VVTe takes twin cams.

If I were to make a WAG, the replacement may still be called a "Hemi" but will be more a "semi-Hemi", with a 4.8 liter alloy V8 with DOHC, 4 valves per cyl (or two that are not round), tighter bore, & DI to run on 87 PON with 10.4-10.5 cr. Then it will be able to compete with the diesel.

Re: 2012 Hemi MPG (16/22)?

I've been hearing about EVIC accuracy issues, and here's my EVIC issue...

Drove WNY to Naples Fl. Averaged 19.4 MPG on the way down.

On the way back, reset the MPG, and got 19.4 MPG on day one, of ~80mph through, FL, GA and then the mountains of TN and KY.

Next day, (reset the EVIC) decided to see if driving slower does help MPG. Kept the speed between 65-70, mostly flat terrain through OH, PA and NY. YOu guessed it, 19.4 MPG. I figure this cant be coincidence, gotta be an EVIC problem. The odds of always driving at 19.4 MPH over thousands of miles if nearly impossible....
