I have a 2012 JGC Altitude. Recently the key I have used since day 1 has started to have issues. We will call this Key A. Last year, I replaced the battery and things worked fine for months. In December 2013, the key was getting shorter and shorter distances within which grabbing the handle to unlock it or pushing the button to lock it would work. Additionally, the truck would not recognize the key when it was in my pocket sitting in the driver's seat. I again replaced the battery with the second battery in a 2-pack I bought last year. That had no effect. I bought a brand new battery and things seemed to work fine for a week or so. Then the truck would recognize the key to open and lock the truck, both with the buttons and with the grab handles, but it would not recognize the key to start the vehicle.

All those issues were with Key A. Whenever Key A was acting up, I got Key B out of my safe and it worked fine. Key B has had very little usage. The batteries I am using are 2032 batteries and the key fob has 4 buttons - Panic, Lock, Unlock & Remote Start.

Has anybody else had similar issues? I am assuming that Key A is defective, but, given that I am out of warranty, I am on my own for replacement. If you have a better idea than a simple, but expensive, replacement, please let me know. I appreciate all input.
