2012 JGC Leaking right rear shock, need help...

my wife's 2012 JGC Hemi Overland has a leaking RIGHT rear shock, how difficult is it to do or if i have the stealership change it, cost? it only has less than 30k miles on it and warranty just expired this February, is there a TSB/recall on these?

also any concerns about safety/driveability, because i can't get to it until this weekend - i assume no, except for premature tire wear?

Considering the warranty expired 3 months ago, you might still be able to make a claim.
The shock appears to have been leaking for quite some time, and the dealer should have spotted it while doing your regularly scheduled maintenance /inspections.
I'm not sure what the rules are in the USA, but in Québec, we have some legal recourses available to us.

Make sure they replace both rear shocks at the same time... not just one.

most likely that won't happen, the other side was replaced last year because of leaking too, but under warranty - i wonder it has to be a defect?

If they replaced one under warranty, they should have replaced the other (which is now leaking), as shocks and or springs are normally replaced in pairs. Like I mentioned earlier, see if they will honour the fix as a goodwill gesture.

Replaced my left rear about 600 miles over warranty. They covered it but I had to pay for the other one... This shock should be a recall. Everyone is having problems with them...

There is a TSB about leaking shocks (02-001-15).
You may be able to still get them replaced under the TSB if you are lucky.

Otherwise, I would go with either ARB or Bilstein shocks.

Count yourself lucky that you don't have the load leveling shocks, they are about 3x more costly.

If you end up replacing them yourself, it is something that you should be able to do yourself.

Too many mods to list for each, so let's just say a lot was done over the years.

I had my two front shocks replaced . the reason it happend was that i got new tires and they did not balanced them . when i drove and got to 75 it started to shake. after i got them balanced, it fixed it instantly . it was like 32 bucks for all four. had to learn the hardway.

so your unbalanced wheels caused your shocks to go bad?
