If you want one and need one, pull the trigger. If you don't really need it, wait. My 2 cents anyway.

You will need to pay a price premium for the diesel and probably a premium for the 8 speed on the 6 if they are consistent with the 300.
+1.
Who knows what 2014 model brings!

I am waiting for the diesel- as long as it has the 8 speed.

Maybe by then it will have a larger NAV screen and LED taillights like the 2011 Dodge Journey that costs half as much.

I dont see a physical volume knob on the Journey's head unit. I don't mind the other audio buttons going soft, but think that the volume needs to be physical, easy to control quickly.

Meh, I personally see nothing but troubles with more gears in a car. Not driving a big rig...... even 6 speeds is on the high side. I would order one now then drive your current car until the wheels fall off to keep the miles off of the WK

There is a pysical volume button. It's the round knob on the far left.

Re: 2012 now or 2013 next year worth the wait?

Just got the 12 with the v6 and 5 speed. It replaced my '11 T&C which Chrysler bought back from me, (another story). Anyway, the T&C had the six speed. What a pain in the ass when on a highway with hills. Had to manually drop it into fifth all the time in order to prevent constant downshifting. Don't have the problem with my new Grand. I can imagine what an 8 speed will do. By the way, the tranny was not the rreason for the buyback.

I looked at an Audi Q5 and Q7 before buying the WK2 and this is exactly what I hate about 8spd transmissions; they are constantly shifting and that adds additional wear and tear on the internal clutches as different planetary sets are combined not to mention a more "busy sounding" driving experience. My wife had an Expedition with the 5.4L/4spd combination and never felt it needed more gear ratios with the flat torque curve on tap.

IMHO what others are complaining about with the Hemi WK2 has more to do with the wired throttle programming than the transmission gear ratios. An aftermarket programmer will fix that. Otherwise if immediate performance is desired I would spend the approximately $1500-$2000 and do an axle gear swap to 4.11:1 or 4.56:1 as long as the speedometer/odometer calibration can be properly updated. That should make for some close-to-SRT8 numbers.
