2012 SRT8 or 2014 Overland?

Looking to get rid of my 2004 Overland and I can't decide between the 2012 SRT8 and a new V8 Overland. Any opinions? Price wise they are pretty close. A new SRT is over budget. SRT8 would be more fun, new Overland makes more sense.

I think a lot of it depends on what your after in the vehicle. Any plans to off-road? What is more important speed or comfort? Ext.

No real plans to off road, but I like the idea of being able to if I wanted. Speed or comfort. That's a tough one. Giving up my Audi S4 and old Jeep for one vehicle. Just can't decide which way to go.

Re: 2012 SRT8 or 2014 Overland?

SRT is great for a very fast street driven SUV that can handle some inclement weather. Disadvantages would be very limited off road use with the low profile tires and lower gas mileage. I wanted the SRT but didn't want to have to be changing to snow tires for the winter. Very satisfied with the V8 Limited.

Speed/Power and never going off-road = SRT
Less Speed/Power and going off-road = Overland

Re: 2012 SRT8 or 2014 Overland?

Another factor that no one has mentioned surprisingly is the fact that its between a 2012 and a 2014. The changes to the 14's are so significant that its so hard to chose a 2011-2013 model. Even though they are all great vehicles, the 14 has so many changes and imrpovements that it makes the 11-13's feel like old generations already.
So you have a real tough decision to make that unfortunately its hard to help you with. Im almost tempted to say that the new interior alone is pretty much the deal breaker. As fun as the SRT8 would be, the horrendous fuel economy would get pretty old real fast.
Alright I made the decision for you. Go with the 2014 Overland!!! Updated styling, interior that blows away the old one, better economy and better suited for all around daily use. I had a 2008 SRT8 and it was a blast, but I got so sick of literally watching that gas needle go down as you drove lol. And with the 25 gallon tank or whatever it is, with premium your going to be pushin probably 100 bucks weekly atleast. Hope my input and opinions can be of assistance to you.

Re: 2012 SRT8 or 2014 Overland?

No way. 2012 SRT interior is better than the 2014 Overland interior. Plus 2012 has flipper glass, hard drive, in dash CD player and the SRT steering wheel, and bigger better sound system. Plus the carbon fiber and silver trim instead of wood and bronzish trim.

That first one is subjective. To me the 14 interior including the in dash screen and the radio are hands down better. I would never use the flipper glass so I don't miss that. You can stick a much bigger sd card in the 14 than the hard drive wpuld ever hold. I will agree with you on the cd player. That is a complete afterthought on the 14's. They could have just as easily fit it somewhere else, especially for $200!

IMO, the SRT difference compared to Overland is significantly greater than '12 to '14 tweaks.

If you are replacing both an S4 and JGC and not seeking to go OR, then go with the SRT.

The 2014...new vehicle with the newest updates and of course the warranty. A no brainer unless you really love the SRT.

I would personally go for the SRT. The best way to decide what you want is to go out and test drive them both. I'm sure you will know exactly what you want.

Its not even close to being better. I'll say it again, the new interior has so many improvments, updates, and changes it makes the 2011-2013 Laredo/Limited/Overland/SRT8 seem like an entirely different generation. No comparison!
Now if the choices were 2014 SRT8 and a 2014 Overland then ofcourse get the SRT8
