2012 WK2 chrome mirror caps

Dealers say they can't be painted or have the chrome striped off cuz it's embedded in the plastic.. and then again there is alot of people who have them color match their jeep and have the chrome caps painted.

Anyone can shine some light to this subject cuz i can't stand the chrome mirror caps and i don't feel like spending hundreds of dollars to buy new altitude mirrors since jeep won't sell mirror caps by itself and ebay only has chrome caps.

Black Ops have Carbon Fiber mirror caps but I wonder if the it's going to be a big contrast if I don't have anything else carbon fiber on my jeep..

Please help

Cheers !!

Check out the classified section of this forum. Sometimes other members want to swap their painted for chrome. Also you could post in the wanted section as well to see if another member wants to swap.

They can be painted. Just had mine painted a few weeks ago. The body shop that painted mine, sanded, used self etching primer, then painted.

I've talked to 3 different body shops and they won't touch it. Unless they are retarded I can't understand why they won't do it. And i'm afraid to sand off a piece of chrome off just to prove it.

Yah, the shop initially didnt want to do it...but they called around and found out the self etching primer is the trick. See if you can find a place that works on classic/custom cars...they should know what they are doing.
