Re: 2013 Altitude or wait for 2014 models?

What a crazy day. I'm still waiting for the dealer to get the white Altitude (should be in by Monday), so today I went to a local dealer to test drive a few models. I figured I'd be more informed when I went to buy my white one. The dealer tells me they'd like to beat the deal I was quoted, I said sure, why not. They offered me one with the exact same specs for $36,500 (MSRP $43,195). That's $1,000 less than my current offer. After that their GM spent several hours trying to negotiate with the other dealership for the trade. We left to run errands so I didn't mind the "wait". Anyway, when I get back they said they couldn't get the deal done because it was reserved or "on hold" for another buyer. Funny thing is, I think I'm that other buyer. We figured they must have tried to sourcing the same car.

Even without that extra $1000, how did you negotiate a price so far below invoice on a 2013 (without any incentives)?

Re: 2013 Altitude or wait for 2014 models?

Haggled over the internet mostly. Found an aggressive price that someone paid on a forum, and then contacted multiple dealers electronically. Told them my target price was X. That got me my original offer. Today, because it's two days before month end, the local dealer went really deep on the discount to make a volume quota, I presume.

Tonight after the dealer couldn't source my white altitude, the GM basically said I could pick any car off the lot at the same % off MSRP that he quoted me on the altitude. It came out to 16.5% off MSRP. I found a white Overland, but it didn't have the new saddle back interior that I preferred. So we got the price in writing and said we'll sleep on it.

Correction, the deal I was quoted tonight was 15.5% off MSRP, not 16.5%. My iphone calculator math was a little off.

Re: 2013 Altitude or wait for 2014 models?

Finally got my jeep today! I decided against the White Altitude and instead got a white Overland. My wife made a good point. I can always upgrade the exeterior, but I can't upgrade the interior.

Specs wise, it's a 4x2 V8 with tow package and I paid $37,400 before TTL. I also got 4 oil changes included. The attached pic isn't the best, but it's all I got at this point. Man I'm still giddy . I also got 2.9% for 84 months financing. I intend to pay it off much sooner, but figured I might as well take the deal since the interest rate was the same at 72 months.

I love the interior! I'm coming from a 12 year old 4runner so I really appreciate all the details. Considering I was hard set on the Altitude, I actually really like the exterior. About the only changes I'll make it replacing the chrome side mirrors and door hands. Otherwise I think it looks sharp!

Yes, I went with the black interior. My wife and I were divided on the saddle interior. I personally love the saddle interior, especially the one with the black dash, but my wife wasn't too keen on the color. She liked it but thought it might not be timeless. For me, it came down to cost. The other white Overland was fully loaded so it was a cool $4K more.

Re: 2013 Altitude or wait for 2014 models?

I agree with your wife on the saddle interior I like it enough but i've been reading post in the problems/troubleshooting area about splotchiness in the saddle dye bubbling up, peeling up. Black is def the way to go congrats man sweet ride!!!! Your first accessory should be a sunshade protect that dash! PS we can upgrade our interiors, we just cant let the "other" know what we plan to do haha. Also I know we cant add features like adaptive cruise control, that's really the only feature i think they should have added across the whole line of models along with blind spot monitoring, such a good safety feature. I bought the highest level Laredo (not X) with cloth because i want a custom two tone leather seat, I just cant decide what direction I want to go in.. there's so many options!!!lol Enjoy your new ride!

I'm really enjoying this GC! To me it's the perfect mix of sport and luxury. It feels like such a refined vehicle. Coming from a 12 year old vehicle there's quite a contrast.

By the way, I didn't mean to be an interior snob. Hopefully it didn't come off that way. I was so set on the exterior of the Altitude that I completely overlooked the Overland and Limited versions. My wife had to remind me that I could alter the exterior. That was the germ of my comment.

Re: 2013 Altitude or wait for 2014 models?

I just got a 2013 Altitude and I thought it was even weird that I was getting a 2013 considering I am still in 2012 and the Jeep website doesn't even advertise a 2013 altitude. (I guess I should have read up on Jeepgarage.com a little more before my purchase.)

Paid $35.8K for 4x2 V6 and didn't even haggle on the price, I figured it was a good deal since it compared to 2012 prices on the internet.

To further confound the situation the '14 models will be out in a few months. And one other note...the '13 Altitude is on Jeep's website. You have to click down a few times....see the below for a comparison.

Are there really that many issues with the saddle interior? I've debated with my wife and finally got her acceptance on it and we will be looking at the 2014's early next year. I would hate to have quality issues with it blow up in my face and never hear the end of her nagging "I told you so".
