Re: 2013 Altitude or wait for 2014 models?

The question is if you want to wait 6 months or more. Then you have to find a dealer willing to sell you a fairly specific vehicle at well under MSRP for a hot selling model. Then you have to bet against (the inevitable) price increase on the '14.

Wheels are something you can add fairly inexpensively. Heck, you could get a set of Summer 20s, and use the 18s for winter or offroad tires. I wouldn't let something like wheels influence my decision tbh.

Factor all those together, if you can get a deal on a '13, I'd take it, and add the Accelevision DVDs posted in the Audio/Video section.

Just my opinion though. Others have banked a lot on the 2014 being the greatest thing ever.

Re: 2013 Altitude or wait for 2014 models?

The GC I was looking at CAME with 20" (20" Nav option) that I really don't want and I'm paying for NAV and the sat radio twice (they come with "e" I believe) $2,795 seems like a lot for basically 20" wheels. Now you're suggesting I go buy 18" too?? 38.5K for a X with power roof, "e" and this stupid option seems not like a "deal" am I nuts.

Not the greatest thing ever but some significant changes that may be a huge improvement. I am really looking forward to the diesel as those in OZ and EU speak very highly of it. Also, the 8 speed has been a VERY good tranny for other makes as well as the 300. Upgraded electronics (radio/NAV) should also be much better. It all depends on what someone is willing to give up as well as willing to pay for.

I may offend some people but the Pentastar just still feels really weak compared to other engines in their class. Just my 2 cents.

Laredo E is included on Laredo X, Laredo E essentially is a package for base model Laredos to add basic comforts like the keyless entry system, power driver's seat, roof rails, etc.

Laredo X includes the 430 radio, NOT the 430N. You can upgrade to the 430N for $495 MSRP. The Nav & 20" wheels group is $1795, so you are paying $1300 for 20" wheels and tires at MSRP.

If you really don't want the 20s, you could try to get the dealer to swap you 18s for 20s and give you the difference. Or find another one at a different dealership, or get a dealer trade, etc.

I wouldn't mind a diesel, but I don't mind the V8 either. The 8 speed transmission, frankly I'm not that hyped about. It may translate to slightly improved city fuel economy, but the reality of moving a 5200# or more vehicle down the highway is tough to overcome, and my Hemi is turning very low rpms at highway speeds, plus has the cylinders deactivated. Even if they were to add a taller overdrive, I can't see it making a significant improvement in fuel economy.

I'm sure the '14 WK2 will be a great vehicle. I'm not fond of the new rear bumper, but I don't have to live with one. I agree, it's up to people to decide how much more they're willing to pay for a 2014 and a slight improvement to fuel economy. To me, if you like the vehicle now, and like the deals out now, you may as well get the car now, because when the new model comes out, it will be more expensive, you may not like some changes to it, and the deals won't be out there anymore.

I guess if I thought 38.5K was a good deal I'd skip the CRD '14 but I don't.
Do you??

if you don't think it is a good deal then don't do it or negotiate for a better deal. If they won't move on that price then you have to decide if it is worth it or if you can wait for the CRD. Even then when the CRD comes out, if the price still doesn't look good then, you can always try to get a '13 for less.

Only you can truly make the decision on if the deal is good or not. You have to make the payments, not us. If you are really doubting that it is not a good deal, then it probably isn't.

Re: 2013 Altitude or wait for 2014 models?

One of the smartest things to do is to walk away from a deal you're not 100% positive about. There will be dozens of opportunities for other deals. Trust me. Dealers live month to month and if they need a sale to make a bonus, they'll be willing to make a deal for sure!
