I don't actually know all the details of what went wrong, and it wasn't a Jeep Diesel, but that thing was in the shop more than it was out, and I think half of it was that they didn't have much of a technical service deptartment for the diesel engine as it was one the few they had. It was literally in the shop more than he had it in his garage. This was several years ago mind you.

Another reason I didn't really look into the diesel JGC is that I drive so little (travel for business every week) that I would never pay for the premium of that engine even if I kept it for 8 years (I put about 2K miles a year on my vehicles), and I love the sound of the V8 hemi. In fact my first "mod" will be to put a performance exhaust on mine to make it even louder and meaner sounding. Mine is literally just going to be used to go to the cottage on weekends and possibly the airport every now and then. My wifes minivan is a lease and we want to keep the miles within the limits or it gets very expensive and they have you by the short and curly's to buy another honda.

Sorry, back to the diesel... lol... has anyone looked into the service history in Italy of the Diesel they are putting in it? I am sure the Jeep dealerships (Dodge) are stocked full of diesel mechanics, so that issue isn't there, but I would be interested in seeing if there is any input out of europe on the engine itself. What other vehicles has it been used in???
